The fallout for Boy George after releasing an AI-created, pro-Israel song that included controversial lyrics is continuing as he has been removed by Bandcamp and parted ways with his longtime label manager, according to the singer.
In a Monday social media post, the Culture Club singer said Bandcamp removed his profile. The removal comes after he released “We Will Dance Again,” a song in which he decisively supported the Israeli government’s actions against Palestinians with lyrics like “You say genocide/ I say war,” and “You condemn the Jews with selective memory/ Musicians holding flags mouthing like sheep/ Propaganda fueled by the internet feels so weak.”
Boy George wrote “What a bunch of c^^^s!” in an Instagram post about his profile being removed by Bandcamp, saying in a video, “It’s very disappointing.”
The removal may not have anything to do with Boy George’s staunch stance in the song and may be based on how he created it. The singer was open about his use of AI to create “We Will Dance Again,” and Bandcamp’s policy doesn’t allow music “that is generated wholly or in substantial part by AI.”

The Bandcamp removal wasn’t the only split Boy George dealt with in the wake of releasing “We Will Dance Again.” On July 31st, the singer announced through another social media post that he had “parted company” with Tony Pontius, the manager of his BGP record label over a disagreement concerning the controversial song. Boy George claimed that Pontius was “unequivocal” in refusing to release “We Will Dance Again.” The singer said he responded to Pontius’ refusal by saying, “‘we are done.’”
“In Buddhism we understand that every action comes with a consequence,” Boy George wrote. “Due to my decision to stand up for my Jewish friends I am losing a few people from my life.”
These latest developments follow Boy George being pulled by his manager from a London production of Jesus Christ Superstar, in which he was supposed to play Jewish King Herod, only days before his debut. Boy George’s removal from the rock opera came only days after he released “We Will Dance Again” over social media.
