Sharon Osbourne Insists Ozzy AI Avatar Is Not a “Money Grab”

Sharon Osbourne is defending the recently announced Ozzy Osbourne digital AI avatar after receiving some backlash, insisting it’s not a “money grab.”

The digital avatar project, which is still in production, has already been the source of controversy and speculation, prompting previous responses from Sharon and Jack Osbourne, including the latter saying, “It’s not gonna be fucking lame”.

Sharon and Jack announced the planned Ozzy avatar at Licensing Expo 2026 this past May, where they introduced the collaborative project in partnership with Hyperreal and Proto Hologram.

In a new interview with Metal Hammer, Sharon said, “I’ve seen such shit online about it being a ‘money grab.’ Why would I need to do that? It’s not as if I’m using Ozzy to sell fucking weedkiller or beer. Ozzy loved the idea. We’ve been talking about it for 10 years.”

She continued, “Ozzy has this great body of work that took a lifetime to do – why shouldn’t he still be seen? Why should we have to watch the same videos over and over again, when there’s technology available that means we don’t have to? If you don’t like it, don’t go see it. I’m not at people’s houses with a fucking gun, going, ‘Give me your money!’”

The digital avatar is one of many planned and upcoming projects as part of the enduring legacy of Ozzy Osbourne, who passed away in July 2025. It was just was announced that there would be Ozzy-themed haunted attractions as part of Universal Studios’ annual Halloween Horror Nights this fall season.

This comes in addition to a Ozzy and Sharon Osbourn biopic, as well as a planned concert film covering last year’s “Back to the Beginning,” featuring the final performances by both Ozzy and Black Sabbath. In the Metal Hammer interview, Sharon said both are still in the works, with hopes for the concert film to be released before the end of the year.
