The anticipated pummeling of Iran has been halted, at least for the moment.
President Donald Trump announced on Saturday evening he canceled a massive military strike on Iran after the “perimeters of a deal” were agreed to. Trump said he called off the strikes — which he said would be the most lethal American attacks since World War II — after Iran and other Middle Eastern countries lobbied the U.S. to pause the barrage, since a peace agreement was mostly in place.
Still, Trump warned the U.S. is “locked and loaded and ready to go,” if the deal falls apart.
The two biggest aspects to note: Trump said the deal includes the “Total OPENING” of the Strait of Hormuz, as well as puts an end to “Iran’s nuclear threat.”

The U.S.A. is locked and loaded and ready to go against the Islamic Republic of Iran, at levels of Military Terror, Strength, and Power not seen since World War II. Despite this, we have just been asked by Iran, and other Middle Eastern Countries, to hold off any attack in that the perimeters of a deal has been agreed to.
This would include the Immediate, Complete, and Total OPENING OF THE HORMUZ STRAIT, and an end to Iran’s nuclear threat. Based on this request, I have agreed, for the future benefit of the WORLD and, likewise, the survival of a successful and prosperous Iran, to cancel the attack, subject to being able to rapidly make a DEAL.
The Country of Israel joins me in this commitment. Get to work, everybody, and get it DONE. Thank you for your attention to this matter! President DONALD J. TRUMP
Trump’s announcement came a day after he said the U.S. planned on ramping up its strikes on Iran.
“We will be hitting them very hard,” Trump said during a televised press conference Friday at Camp David. “And you know at some point, they’re going to say, ‘We just can’t take it anymore.’”
A few days earlier, he told Fox News the U.S. was going to “beat the f*cking sh*t” out of Iran.
The Wall Street Journal reported on Friday,”For weeks behind closed doors, Trump has been telling aides that the Iranians are ‘crazy,’ according to U.S. officials. He also has complained to confidants that the interim peace deal was ultimately meaningless, officials said, and that he always knew it wasn’t going to work.”
Saturday’s deal follows the 60-day ceasefire deal the U.S. and Iran reached in mid-June. But that agreement fell apart after Iran hit a Cyprus-flagged ship in the Strait of Hormuz last month, leading to nearly two straight weeks of retaliatory strikes from the U.S.
