Syfy’s Hit Horror Series Revival Sets Exciting New Release As Season 2 Waits In Limbo

The creators of Syfy’s acclaimed supernatural horror show are practically begging fans to save it.

Revival debuted to solid critical praise back in 2025, and quickly built a fan following thanks to an initial airing on Syfy, followed by a successful streaming run on Peacock. Unfortunately, Revival season 2 has not yet been greenlit, and the show seems in some danger of never returning. But now there’s potentially great news about the series’ future thanks to a big upgrade in its streaming home.

Netflix is indeed the biggest streamer in the world, and the service has announced it will be hosting all ten episodes of Revival season 1 beginning August 24, 2026 (via Dread Central). Co-creator and showrunner Aaron B. Koontz remarked on the big opportunity his project has been given, saying, “We have always believed there is a much bigger audience out there for this show. The response from the people who found Revival on Peacock was incredible, but Netflix gives it an entirely new life.”

Koontz’s fellow co-creator and showrunner Luke Boyce laid out the stakes for Revival in even more direct terms, sending out the call to audiences to give their assistance in getting season 2 made. “There is a lot more story left to tell, so if horror fans want a second season, August 24 is the moment to watch it, finish it, and tell people about it.”

Critics would seem to agree that Revival deserves a season 2, given season 1’s 90% fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes. The show actually went on to receive a little extra RT love, nabbing a Golden Tomato nomination for best horror series along with the likes of Alien: Earth, The Last of Us, Dexter: Resurrection, and Stranger Things.

ScreenRant’s own Revival review gave the show plenty of praise as well, saying, “Yes, the show is a little rough around the edges, but things are off to a great start in season 1. If the series can maintain the balance of humor and mystery, it can create something great. The ability to pack in various storylines and bring them all back at the right moment for the greatest impact is great, and Revival deserves a chance to continue its story beyond season 1.”

The chance of such a Revival continuation seems stronger with a big streamer picking up the show. Netflix indeed has a long track-record of saving series that failed to be picked-up by their original networks, having kept the flame burning a little longer for shows as diverse as Girls5Eva, Arrested Development, Lucifer, Manifest, and Cobra Kai.
