The brand was acquired by Disney some years back, so Hulu often hosts content that would otherwise only be available on Disney+. While Hulu’s future is uncertain, the streamer is still one of the best services currently available to viewers.
The movie selection is much smaller than other platforms like Netflix, but that doesn’t mean choices are limited. Hulu’s movie catalog is curated, and generally offers a much higher standard of quality than its competitors. Associations with Fox and its subsidiaries also opens the door for new releases to come to Hulu right after they finish their theatrical runs.
This weekend’s list mixes a new release with an underrated recent gem, and even a classic from a few decades back. There isn’t really any rhyme or reason to the picks, other than the fact that they represent the best of what Hulu offers its subscribers. The list features a hearty mix of laughs and action, but drama hasn’t been neglected. Fear not, even as the month draws to a close, these movies aren’t leaving anytime soon.

Is This Thing On? (2025)
Is This Thing On? is one of many excellent films that got lost in the shuffle last year, but it deserves more attention. The dramedy concerns a married couple who split amicably, but they both struggle to discover their middle-aged selves. Like a lot of dramedies, Is This Thing On? hinges on a pair of amazing performances from Laura Dern and Will Arnett.
The Bradley Cooper directorial effort is genuine and sincere, and offers a lot of what’s lacking in the modern comedy landscape. It’s a pleasant viewing experience with low stakes, and makes for perfect viewing on a lazy weekend. It deftly mixes humor and heart, and it’s a real shame that it sits largely ignored in Hulu’s movie catalog.

American Gangster (2007)
Generally considered one of the best crime thrillers of the 21st century, American Gangster is a real gem. The semi-biographical film chronicles the rise of a ruthless New York mobster, Frank Lucas, and the dedicated cop who vows to bring him down. Ridley Scott brings his eye for cinematic epics to the project, and it feels larger-than-life.
Denzel Washington is perfectly cast in the lead role, and it’s interesting seeing him show off his dark side in a more villainous role. The movie itself is an exciting thrill ride, and is one of the more rewatchable films in the gangster subgenre. Though it plays fast and loose with the truth, it digs deep into one of the most intriguing crime stories in American history. There were a ton of great films in 2007, and American Gangster should not be overlooked.

The Devil Wears Prada 2 (2026)
If there was any concern that a 20-year wait would have caused fans to lose interest in the sequel, the nearly $700 million box office of The Devil Wears Prada 2 put those fears to bed. In a classic role reversal, Miranda Priestly struggles to match the rapidly-changing world of fashion reporting, and calls on Andy to help her get her groove back. The original cast slips effortlessly into their beloved roles.
Though the sequel is hardly transformative, it is a slick and enjoyable flick all the same. It is exactly what a Devil Wears Prada sequel should be, and builds upon what was established in the classic movie. It is currently only available to stream on Hulu, so subscribers get the first chance to see it after its massively successful theatrical run.
