Trans influencer and actress Dylan Mulvaney hit back at President Donald Trump on Sunday after he mocked both her and CNN White House correspondent Kaitlan Collins during his speech at the rescheduled White House Correspondents’ Dinner.
Trump used part of his address at Friday’s event, which was postponed from April after a gunman opened fire as the original dinner was underway, to congratulate Collins on an award for her White House coverage before questioning its merit.
“I want to personally congratulate CNN’s Kaitlan Collins on receiving her award,” Trump said. “It was all about me. It’s a fake. She shouldn’t get the award. It was a fake. But I didn’t mind. I said, ‘Kaitlan, congratulations.’ But it was fake, there’s no question about it.”
After joking Collins should “smile”, Trump compared her to Mulvaney, claiming he confused the two during Mulvaney’s 2023 promotional partnership with Bud Light.
“I thought Kaitlan had really made it big with a major new sponsorship, but then I informed her that it wasn’t her on the Bud Light can, it was Dylan Mulvaney,” Trump said. “Dylan Mulvaney cost Bud Light $35 billion in market cap. That was the worst commercial ever made by the way, for those few people who want to hear that. Most people don’t care, but I would. I wouldn’t want to hire Dylan any time soon.”
On Sunday, Trump shared an edited image on social media showing Collins’ face superimposed onto Mulvaney’s body from the Bud Light campaign, as part of a flurry of AI-generated posts and memes.
Mulvaney responded on TikTok with a nearly four-minute video, opening by congratulating Collins on her journalism award before rounding on the president.

Of Collins, Mulvaney said: “I would like to tell her that I’m incredibly honored to be compared to her in any way, and I hope that she keeps doing all the great work.”
She noted that Trump had mentioned her four times during Friday’s event despite her keeping what she described as a relatively low public profile in recent years.
“And yet I am still his topic of conversation all these years later,” Mulvaney said. “And it seems to me that I might be like the one that got away for these men. Like, I am permanently burned into their retinas. I am microchipped into their minds.”
Mulvaney continued to say that she wouldn’t “want to be professionally supported by an administration that doesn’t personally support me or so many others in this country” but later asked: “Why is it so important to them that I don’t find success?”
She added: “Maybe being publicly mocked and criticized by this administration is actually like the greatest compliment of all. Because it puts me in the company of some of the most brilliant, empathetic people in our world today.”
“And lastly, to the president, thank you for reminding me that I am more powerful than I even knew,” she concluded. “And to quote my favorite recording artist, Shea Diamond, ‘I am America.’”
