A pair of damning stories about the Democratic National Committee (DNC) and its chairman, Ken Martin, have sent shockwaves across the political world Sunday.
First up was a report from The New York Times which revealed Martin threw his phone at a junior aide’s desk in a fit of frustration. The Times also delved into the DNC’s financial woes — as they reported the DNC is currently $2 million in the red, while their Republican counterparts are more than nine figures in the black.
A subsequent report from NOTUS shed even more light on the DNC’s money problems. The DNC put its own headquarters up as collateral last year to obtain a $15 million loan. Though the move is not unprecedented, NOTUS reported that the fact that it was not done in an election year is being seen by some members as cause for extra concern.
And there may be another shoe about to drop. The Bulwark’s Sam Stein posted on X that his outlet is preparing its own report on the DNC boss.
But the information that’s already out has caused quite a stir.
“This is not sustainable,” MS Now host Joe Scarborough posted on X. “Anyone who cares about the Democratic Party—including Ken Martin—would say ‘Enough.’ The DNC is flat broke. This must change now.”
