As if getting arrested over Fourth of July weekend wasn’t enough, retired NFL star Marcellus Wiley is facing even more legal woes, as a bank sued him in December 2025 for half a million dollars.
Months before both of these events, Marcellus, who previously appeared in season 13 of “The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” alongside his soon-to-be ex-wife, Annemarie Wiley, was accused of sexually assaulting several women between the years of 1995 and 2009.
Marcellus, who played professional football for the Buffalo Bills, San Diego Chargers, Dallas Cowboys, and Jacksonville Jaguars, was facing a legal battle well before his arrest on July 4th, 2026. According to TMZ, the Columbia University alum was sued by a bank for allegedly failing to pay on a $500,000 loan.
The lawsuit states that Marcellus and his “Dat Dude Entertainment” media company allegedly took out a loan from Preferred Bank in the summer of 2023 and reportedly agreed to repay it in one year. According to the bank, Marcellus never returned the money or paid any interest, even though the financial institution agreed to grant the athlete several extensions.
Marcellus Wiley Accused Of Alleged Domestic Violence Against His Wife, Annemarie
The news of Marcellus’ alleged financial woes arrives days after the 51-year-old was locked up in Orlando, Florida, for allegedly assaulting his wife, Annemarie. According to The Blast, Annemarie told local police that Marcellus poked her in the face during an intense argument and allegedly threatened to kill her.
It all went down at the World Marriott hotel in Orlando, where the couple was staying with their children over the holiday weekend for a basketball tournament. To make matters worse, Annemarie told police that it wasn’t the first time Marcellus had physically harmed her. Consequently, the former reality star said that she was planning to move forward with divorce due to his “unreported history of violence towards her in the past.”
Marcellus Wiley Ordered To Stay 500 Feet Away From Wife
Marcellus’ legal woes continue to mount, as court documents obtained by Us Weekly reveal that the former NFL player received a no-contact order a day after his arrest, meaning he’s unable to communicate with Annemarie for the time being.
The legal documents state that Marcellus must stay at least 500 feet away from Annemarie, their home, and her work. Additionally, Marcellus is unable to use their children to pass messages to her or to say anything that might frighten her.
And that’s not all. Marcellus is unable to possess any weapons, including firearms, and must find a new place to stay.
Annemarie Files For Divorce From Marcellus, Mentions ‘Continuing Pattern Of Physical Violence’
Annemarie filed for divorce from Marcellus on Monday, July 6, citing the common irreconcilable differences as the reason for their separation. Also, in her filing, Annemarie is requesting legal and physical custody of their three children, Marcellus Jr., Ariya, and Alivia, and asking for no visitation at this time. Annemarie has also asked the court to grant her spousal support and funds to pay for her attorneys.
The court filing accuses Marcellus of horrifying crimes, including showing a “pattern of physical violence” and “sexual abuse.” The former “RHOBH” star also accused Marcellus of being verbally, emotionally, and financially abusive, and claimed that “much” of their conflict has been in front of their children.
According to Bravo’s Daily Dish, Annemarie and Marcellus got married in 2014.
Marcellus Denies The Claims Against Him
Marcellus clapped back against the claims with a post on X, formerly Twitter, on July 7, 2026. In his statement, the 51-year-old denied the allegations and said his primary concern was for his children.
“Because of the public allegations made against me by Annemarie, I have been forced to respond with evidence rather than emotion. More importantly, I owe it to my children to truthfully document what they and I have endured,” he said.
According to the former NFL player, he’s gathered evidence that he says contradicts Annemarie’s claims, including videos, photos, text messages, and emails.
While he said he hoped to keep their personal struggles private, he later said he knew this day was coming.
“I was willing to endure anything—even hell itself—if it meant being with my children every single day,” he wrote. “I am their hero, and now I am fighting to make sure the positive and real image they know of me is the one that endures.”
Earlier this year, Marcellus was accused of sexual assault by four women. One of the women alleged Marcellus assaulted her in 2009 in his hotel room when she was working for ESPN. Two other women accused Marcellus of r-ping them between 1995 and 1999. The final woman alleged that she’d been groomed by Marcellus at the age of 13, and then accused him of sexually assaulting her when she turned 18.
