“My husband was the one who rushed us into getting married and having children. I knew I wanted those things with him someday, so I thought, ‘If I already know I want to marry this man and have his children, what’s the harm in doing it a little earlier for him?’ He wanted it so badly and never once suggested that he was afraid of commitment or nervous about becoming a father. Years later, I found out he had cheated on me right after our wedding, throughout my pregnancy until two days before our first son was born, and again while I was home on maternity leave. There were several different women. His excuse was that he was ‘scared about being a dad’ and ‘afraid of commitment.’ Like, WTF? I was the one who was scared, and he was the person who convinced me not to be afraid because this was supposedly what he wanted.”
