With the July live recruiting periods now complete, here is a closer look at a group of Virginia’s rising sophomores who helped themselves the most during June and July and are trending up entering the fall.
Bacot led Team Loaded to the adidas 3SSB 15u Championship and an undefeated season, averaging 14.4 points and 4.0 assists per game during the July live periods. One of the nation’s top prospects in the 2029 class, Bacot combines positional size with an advanced skill set and high basketball IQ. A three-level scorer, he can create his own offense, make plays for teammates, and consistently impacts winning.
Williams was the catalyst for Team Loaded 540 during the July live period in South Carolina averaging 16.5 points per game. The rising sophomore excels at getting downhill, where his quick first step and ability to change speeds put pressure on opposing defenses. He has a good command of the basketball, knows how to use ball screens and is a capable perimeter shooter who can keep defenders honest. Williams also impacts the game on the defensive end, using his quickness, effort, and on-ball pressure to disrupt opposing offenses.
The scoring point guard was impressive with Hayfield during June. Towe can score at all three levels and has an impressive command of the basketball. He changes speeds well and sees the floor for a young prospect. Expect this rising sophomore to be among Virginia’s top point guards in the 2029 recruiting class.
Wright was impressive summer for both The Carmel School and [program_tooltip program_id=’2078817′ first=’Virginia’ last=’Elite’] on the UA Rise Circuit. The rising sophomore is a skilled, versatile wing with good positional size and a good feel for the game. He is a capable perimeter shot maker who can space the floor and understands how to use screens to create scoring opportunities. Wright is emerging prospect to watch in Virginia’s 2029 recruiting class.
This rising sophomore is a skilled wing with positional size and a high basketball IQ. He showed his ability to consistently make shot from beyond the arc for Handley during June and also is a productive rebounder and a versatile defender. Mattison is a prospect with plenty of upside the the 2029 class.
