So \u2013 personal news,\u201d she began in her post that was shared on Friday (July 17). \u201cI\u2019m quite a private person by nature, but am sharing this as one of the many things I\u2019ve learned after going through health challenges in recent years is that talking about this stuff helps people.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019ve been diagnosed with something called smouldering myeloma (yes that is a weird name and no I\u2019d never heard of it either). It\u2019s an asymptomatic blood and bone marrow disorder that in some people can develop into blood cancer.\u201d<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"instagram-media\" data-instgrm-captioned=\"\" data-instgrm-permalink=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/Da5KFIVDEix\/?utm_source=ig_embed&amp;utm_campaign=loading\" data-instgrm-version=\"14\" style=\" background:#FFF; border:0; border-radius:3px; box-shadow:0 0 1px 0 rgba(0,0,0,0.5),0 1px 10px 0 rgba(0,0,0,0.15); margin: 1px; max-width:658px; min-width:326px; padding:0; width:99.375%; width:-webkit-calc(100% - 2px); width:calc(100% - 2px);\">\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>\u201cThankfully the risk of this happening in my case is pretty low,\u201d she continued. \u201cAt the moment I feel OK and don\u2019t need treatment. Most people my age who have it have no idea \u2013 it tends to be cancer survivors like me who are diagnosed early as we\u2019re so carefully monitored.
