Kennedy Jr. &amp; Carolyn Bessette.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The  supporting actor category is also packed with heavyweights, including Jason Bateman for \u201cDTF St. Louis,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2026\/04\/21\/entertainment\/baby-reindeer-creator-richard-gadds-next-show-half-man-is-brutal-review\/\">Richard Gadd for \u201cHalf Man,\u201d<\/a> David Harbour for\u00a0 \u201cDTF St. Louis,\u201d Richard Jenkins for \u201cDTF St. Louis,\u201d Charles Melton for \u201cBeef,\u201d and Nick Offerman,\u201d for \u201cDeath by Lightning.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The Television Academy said in a statement Friday this change is because of the \u201cextraordinary breadth of work recognized each year and the limited time available within a three-hour broadcast.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>In the supporting actress category, Linda Cardellini (seen in \u201cDTF St. Louis\u201d), Dakota Fanning and others were nominated. <span class=\"credit\">Tina Rowden\/HBO<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>The Academy explained the change is due to the \u201cextraordinary breadth of work recognized each year and the limited time available within a three-hour broadcast.\u201d (Dakota Fanning pictured on a red carpet above.) <span class=\"credit\">Kevin Mazur\/Getty Images<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The statement added that it is a \u201cthoughtful evolution\u201d that \u201censures\u201d that the ceremony remains, \u201cdeeply engaging and tailored to the television audience.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Snubbing actors like David Harbour, Dakota Fanning, and Richard Gadd is surprising, as Gadd was an Emmy darling for his 2024 series \u201cBaby Reindeer.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The 2026 Emmys will be hosted by\u00a0 \u201cLaw &amp; Order: Special Victims Unit\u201d star Mariska Hargitay.\u00a0<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>Other categories that wont be televised include Directing for a Limited Series or Movie and Writing for a Limited Series or Movie. <span class=\"credit\">Getty Images<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>\u201cThe Pitt,\u201d starring Noah Wyle (seen at the Emmys 2025 above), led the nominations this year. <span class=\"credit\">Variety via Getty Images<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cThe Pitt\u201d led the pack of with 25 nominations, while \u201cHacks\u201d came in second with 24.
