Gabriel Garc\u00eda M\u00e1rquez\u2019s book of the same name was long regarded as unfilmable because of its unique application of magical phenomena to the material reality of its main characters.<\/p>\n<p>Thanks to an entirely Latin American team of writers, directors, and cinematographers, <em>One Hundred Years of Solitude<\/em> is a technical masterpiece. It carefully builds the fantastical elements of its story into a picture where they don\u2019t look a bit out of place, despite the historical realism underpinning the series.<\/p>\n<p>What\u2019s more, the stunning performances of actors Claudio Cata\u00f1o, Marleyda Soto, and Vi\u00f1a Machado, among others, get us to invest in the more challenging aspects of the story, and immerse us in the rapidly changing world of the Buend\u00eda family. While the turnover of cast members is something viewers became accustomed to in season 1, it could feel more jarring this time around, particularly two years after the show\u2019s previous release.<\/p>\n<p>Nevertheless, if Netflix\u2019s <strong><em>One Hundred Years of Solitude<\/em><\/strong> manages to overcome these obstacles and deliver the grand finale its literary source demands, it will surely go down as one of the greatest streaming series ever produced.
