As <a href=\"https:\/\/consequence.net\/artist\/lars-ulrich\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Lars Ulrich<\/a> tells <a href=\"https:\/\/consequence.net\/artist\/the-edge\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The Edge<\/a> in a new interview, the band is taking inspiration from <a href=\"https:\/\/consequence.net\/artist\/u2\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">U2<\/a>, who were the first act to play the futuristic venue.<\/p>\n<p>The legendary metal act is set to perform 24 shows at the Sphere as part of the <a href=\"https:\/\/consequence.net\/2026\/02\/metallica-2026-las-vegas-sphere-how-to-get-tickets\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u201cLife Burns Faster\u201d residency<\/a> running from October 1st, 2026, through March 13th, 2027. And it\u2019s been in the works. We\u2019ve been working on this for a year, year and a half. And certainly thank you to you guys. You know, I was there opening night and was so just fucking awestruck, inspired, energized, all of it. And it was just like, \u2018Holy shit, this is somehow another frontier.\u2019 This is, you know, we\u2019re all fortunate enough to be able to do these shows, to connect with these audiences, to play with the configuration, and to sort of reinvent the staging and all of it, all the time. But this is something else. This is another level. And so to be able to do that here is so exciting.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The drummer added, \u201cAnd, obviously you guys were the first ones in, and it was just so incredible to see that night. And, so in that spirit, three years later, when we start here in a few months, we\u2019re so excited, and definitely have heard from a few folks about the filming and all of it. And it\u2019ll be, it\u2019s going to be challenging, and obviously, I think like everybody else I\u2019ve talked to about it\u2019s overwhelming and fucking intimidating. But hopefully when we step out on stage that first night, we\u2019ll have it somewhat together. So and that\u2019s also, as you know, that\u2019s a place maybe we don\u2019t end up in often enough because we have a tendency to put ourselves in environments that we completely control and know.
