The acclaimed Iranian director and screenwriter is set to accept the award in person, while a retrospective of his work will be presented as part of the festival\u2019s \u2018Tribute To\u2019 program.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tFarhadi returns to Sarajevo eight years after serving as President of the Jury for the festival\u2019s feature film competition in 2018, where his film\u00a0<em>Everybody Knows\u00a0<\/em>was screened in the Open Air program.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tThe Iranian born writer-director made his directorial debut with\u00a0<em>Dancing in the Dust<\/em>\u00a0in 2002. After the success of\u00a0<em>About Elly<\/em>\u00a0in 2009, for which he won the Silver Bear for Best Director at Berlinale, Farhadi gained international recognition and critical acclaim with\u00a0<em>A Separation<\/em>, which won an Academy Award and a C\u00e9sar for Best Foreign Film.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tHe then left Iran for France to shoot\u00a0<em>The Past<\/em>, which earned B\u00e9r\u00e9nice Bejo the Best Actress Award at the 2013 Cannes Film Festival. After that film, Farhadi returned to Iran to direct\u00a0<em>The Salesman<\/em>, which premiered In Competition at the 2016 Cannes Film Festival, where it won Best Screenplay and Best Actor (Shahab Hosseini). That film became Farhadi\u2019s biggest success and earned him the second Academy Award of his career. In 2021, his film\u00a0<em>A Hero<\/em>\u00a0won the Grand Prix in Cannes. His latest film,\u00a0<em>Parallel Tales<\/em>, shot in France and also screened in Cannes earlier this year.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\t\u201cIt is difficult to overstate Asghar Farhadi\u2019s significance to world cinema,\u201d said Jovan Marjanovi\u0107, Director of the Sarajevo Film Festival. \u201cHis remarkable body of work reminds us that the most profound dramas are often concealed within everyday life.
