Now, the streaming platform wants to tell you what your favorite song <em>really<\/em> means. <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-line-height-copy  lrv-a-font-body-l   \">\n\tNot everyone is pleased with the latest development, however. On Thursday, Grammy-winning artist <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/t\/lorde\/\" id=\"auto-tag_lorde\" data-tag=\"lorde\">Lorde<\/a> took to social media to call out Spotify over its \u201cAbout the Song\u201d feature and accuse the streaming behemoth of sharing inaccurate information, while also overstepping artistic boundaries. According to <a href=\"https:\/\/newsroom.spotify.com\/2026-02-06\/about-the-song-beta\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">Spotify<\/a>, the new feature is in beta and produces summaries by pulling from \u201cthird-party sources to surface interesting details and behind-the-scenes moments.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-line-height-copy  lrv-a-font-body-l   \">\n\tOn Instagram Stories, Lorde shared a screenshot of a Spotify AI description for her song \u201cCurrent Affairs,\u201d which read: \u201cOn her Ultrasound World Tour, Lorde turns Current Affairs into a full-on performance piece, stripping down to underwear while a dancer pours water over her stomach so the song plays out like the shower scene she talks about on stage.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-line-height-copy  lrv-a-font-body-l   \">\n\tIn the caption for the post, Lorde tagged the streaming service. \u201cHey @spotify i\u2019m gonna go out on a limb n say we don\u2019t want this,\u201d wrote Lorde. \u201cNot only is this inaccurate (not the song i did that in) but reducing a song to an ai generated meaning right at the source feels like it limits free interpretation imo.
