Estranged from his ex-wife and young children while living with his mother, Ninh finds the distances between himself and those he loves measured in something harder to quantify than decibels.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tA clip has been unveiled.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tThe film is an expansive international co-production spanning nine territories: Singapore, <a href=\"https:\/\/variety.com\/t\/vietnam\/\" id=\"auto-tag_vietnam\" data-tag=\"vietnam\">Vietnam<\/a>, Norway, France, Indonesia, Saudi Arabia, Cambodia, Thailand and Taiwan. Producers are Elizabeth Wijaya, Lai Weijie and Hu\u1ef3nh Y\u1ebfn.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tL\u00ea B\u1ea3o\u2019s debut, \u201cTaste,\u201d earned him the Encounters Special Jury Prize at the Berlin Film Festival and established the self-taught filmmaker as one of the more singular voices working in Vietnamese cinema. \u201cHearing\u201d reunites him with cinematographer Nguy\u1ec5n Vinh Ph\u00fac and production designer L\u00ea V\u0103n Thanh. The editing team comprises Carlo Francisco Manatad and Dounia Sichov.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tSound sits at the heart of the film\u2019s formal ambition. French sound designer and re-recording mixer Vincent Villa, whose credits include Davy Chou\u2019s \u201cReturn to Seoul,\u201d \u201cDiamond Island\u201d and \u201cCambodia 2099,\u201d as well as \u201cWhite Building,\u201d \u201cTaste\u201d and \u201cViet and Nam,\u201d shapes the film\u2019s sonic world. The original score comes from Norwegian electronic music artist Mental Overdrive, the alias of Per Martinsen, whose work spans film composition, theater and multimedia art.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tHeretic said: \u201cWe are thrilled to be working with L\u00ea B\u1ea3o and this outstanding team on \u2018Hearing.\u2019 L\u00ea B\u1ea3o has established himself as one of the most distinctive voices in contemporary cinema, and \u2018Hearing\u2019 is a profoundly moving and formally accomplished work.
