There have been few official updates on the status of his health, but just this week, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.justjared.com\/2026\/07\/06\/everything-mitch-mcconnells-aides-have-said-about-his-health-amid-shocking-brain-dead-claims\/\">reports alleged that he was brain dead.<\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Over the weekend, his office finally released a statement and a photo to confirm he\u2019s recovering. The photo featured his wife, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.justjared.com\/tags\/elaine-chao\/\" class=\"celebrity-tag-link\"><strong class=\"celebrity-tag-strong\">Elaine Chao<\/strong><\/a>, who had also<a href=\"https:\/\/www.justjared.com\/2026\/07\/08\/mitch-mcconnells-wife-breaks-silence-on-why-she-was-in-china-while-he-has-been-hospitalized\/\"> recently released a statement.<\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">However, many conspiracy theorists online struggled to believe the photo was real, and alleged it was AI generated.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full caption_belowImage credit_onImage mobile-image-full-width\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.justjared.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/07\/mitch.jpg\" class=\"pss-trigger\" role=\"button\" data-pss-trigger=\"0\" aria-controls=\"pss-modal\" aria-label=\"Open gallery of 1 image.\" title=\"Open gallery of 1 image.\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"713\" height=\"660\" src=\"https:\/\/www.justjared.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/07\/mitch.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-2246113\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.justjared.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/07\/mitch.jpg 713w, https:\/\/www.justjared.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/07\/mitch-428x396.jpg 428w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 430px) 100px, 100vw\"\/><span class=\"pss-trigger__badge\" aria-hidden=\"true\">1<\/span><\/a><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\"\/><\/figure>\n<h3 id=\"h-the-washington-post-found-no-evidence-the-photo-was-faked\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">The Washington Post found no evidence the photo was faked<\/h3>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/politics\/2026\/07\/13\/mcconnell-photo-with-washington-post-page-fuels-ai-era-speculation\/\"><em>Washington Post <\/em><\/a>did some investigating to see if the photo is real or fake.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">They shared that they \u201creviewed a copy of the original photo \u2014 provided by McConnell\u2019s office at The Post\u2019s request \u2014 and found that its metadata appears to show it was taken Sunday.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">They added that an \u201cindependent digital forensics expert also said there appeared to be no evidence that the image is fake.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">They continued, \u201c<strong>Hany Farid<\/strong>, a digital forensics professor at the University of California at Berkeley, examined the photo and said there is no evidence that the image is fake or AI generated. He said that neither McConnell\u2019s nor <strong>Chao<\/strong>\u2019s face looks suspicious, according to an analytical model he used to examine the image.
