Pic credit: \u00a9ImageCollect.com\/Kristin Callahan\/AcePictures\/Xavier Collin\/Image Press Agency<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Ginger Zee thinks her Good Morning America colleague, Michael Strahan, would make a good tornado-chasing partner.<\/p>\n<p>Ginger is heading to Minnesota today as ABC News\u2019 chief meteorologist.<\/p>\n<p>Due to the potential for strong tornadoes in the area, Ginger is leaving New York City and setting out west.<\/p>\n<p>The ABC News chief climate correspondent took to Instagram early Monday morning to announce her departure from The Big Apple.<\/p>\n<p>Ginger filmed herself as she stood inside Times Square Studios in NYC and shared some graphics depicting the stormy weather headed towards the Midwest.<\/p>\n<p>Ginger explained to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.monstersandcritics.com\/tv\/gma-viewers-call-for-ginger-zee-to-get-a-new-show-as-she-fills-in-as-abc-co-host\/\">her GMA viewers<\/a> that the rain this morning could stabilize the air for a time in the Minnesota area.<\/p>\n<p>Still, as Ginger warned, it could destabilize just enough to cause damaging winds and possibly even tornadoes in Iowa, Wisconsin, and southeastern Minnesota.<\/p>\n<p>As Ginger stated, \u201cThe threat is out there,\u201d along the Iowa state line.\u201d<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Ginger takes to social media about new endeavors<\/h2>\n<p>As <a href=\"https:\/\/www.monstersandcritics.com\/tv\/ginger-zee-models-her-kind-of-oscars-glam-in-gma-after-party-dress\/\">Ginger Zee<\/a> recorded her informational Instagram Reel, a co-worker inserted themselves into the video for an unexpected cameo.<\/p>\n<p>GMA host <a href=\"https:\/\/www.monstersandcritics.com\/tv\/michael-strahan-throws-gift-at-gma-camera-and-has-message-for-upcoming-guests\/\">Michael Strahan<\/a> popped up in the background and surprised Ginger.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOh, hi, Michael,\u201d Ginger said to him.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHey!\u201d Michael said to Ginger and her followers mid-recording.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-instagram wp-block-embed-instagram\"\/>\n<p>Ginger explained to Michael what was going on weather-wise.<\/p>\n<p>Although Ginger wasn\u2019t fazed by traveling into harm\u2019s way to chase tornadoes, Michael made it clear that he wasn\u2019t interested in doing the same.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOkay, you\u2019re going right into the middle of it, as you always do,\u201d he remarked. \u201cAnd that\u2019s why I stay here, cuz I\u2019m not tough like Ginger.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Ginger laughed and told her Instagram followers, \u201cWe\u2019ll see you then.\u201d<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Ginger suggests Michael should join her next tornado chase<\/h2>\n<p>Taking to her Instagram Stories, Ginger shared her Reel and a message aimed at Michael.<\/p>\n<p>In the caption, Ginger wrote, \u201cSince @michaelstrahan stumbled into my forecast today\u2026 maybe he should come with on the next tornado chase?\u201d<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" data-recalc-dims=\"1\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"680\" height=\"1100\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.monstersandcritics.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/ginger-zee-michael-strahan.jpg?resize=680%2C1100&amp;ssl=1\" alt=\"ginger zee posts about michael strahan joining her next tornado chase in her instagram story\" class=\"wp-image-1993832\" style=\"width:680px\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.monstersandcritics.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/ginger-zee-michael-strahan.jpg?w=680&amp;ssl=1 680w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.monstersandcritics.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/ginger-zee-michael-strahan.jpg?resize=93%2C150&amp;ssl=1 93w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 680px) 100vw, 680px\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Ginger hinted that Michael Strahan should come along on her tornado chase.
