His wife, former Transportation Secretary <strong>Elaine Chao<\/strong>, sat to his side.<\/p>\n<p>McConnell was reportedly transported to the hospital by ambulance from his home on June 14, but little additional information was made available.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMy doctors have confirmed that I didn\u2019t break any bones or suffer a concussion. I didn\u2019t have a heart attack or a stroke. I don\u2019t have any tumors or hemorrhages, but I was briefly unconscious and was taken to the hospital while receiving excellent care over the past several weeks, I\u2019ve also had to deal with a mild case of pneumonia,\u201d McConnell wrote.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI can assure you that I\u2019ve been a good patient at my age. I tend to do what my doctors tell me to do. I\u2019ve submitted to every test they can think of to help figure out what caused this incident, and I\u2019m continuing to do everything they ask to speed my recovery. And over the past several weeks,\u2026 <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/YTzTXDhEgu\">pic.twitter.com\/YTzTXDhEgu<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Jake Sherman (@JakeSherman) <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/JakeSherman\/status\/2076417700407173481?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">July 12, 2026<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<\/div>\n<p>The 84-year-old McConnell is currently serving his seventh term in the U.S. Senate.<\/p>\n<p>On Saturday, Kentucky Gov. <strong>Andy Beshear<\/strong> (D) called on McConnell\u2019s office to \u201cend the crazy speculation\u201d on the senator\u2019s health.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/AndyBeshearKY\/status\/2075979260896964699\">Beshear posted to X<\/a> on Saturday, \u201cI publicly and privately urged the last administration to address the public\u2019s concerns with the former president\u2019s health. I\u2019m calling on Sen. McConnell to do the same and provide voters an update on his own health. Let\u2019s end the crazy speculation. Just tell us what\u2019s going on.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.mediaite.com\/media\/news\/beshear-calls-on-mcconnell-to-end-the-crazy-speculation-as-senators-spokesperson-gives-update\/\">Also Saturday<\/a>, McConnell\u2019s office gave its first update on the senator\u2019s health, telling local outlet WDRB in Louisville that he \u201ccontinues his recovery in the hospital.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs you can imagine, we have been receiving lots of messages from folks, and as the senator continues to recover, we will be sure to keep you updated,\u201d the spokesperson told the outlet.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn the meantime, Senator McConnell appreciates the outpouring of support he\u2019s receiving while he continues his recovery in the hospital. The senator continues to improve and is working closely with his staff on Kentucky and Senate matters while the Senate is out of session.
