The <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2026\/06\/23\/sports\/warriors-select-yaxel-lendeborg-with-no-11-pick-in-nba-draft\/\">No. 11 overall pick<\/a> wasn\u2019t coy in his response.  <\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m finna give Dillon Brooks belt,\u201d Lendeborg said on a Kick stream. <\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>Yaxel Lendeborg has never been afraid to make candid comments since he was drafted.  <span class=\"credit\">Getty Images<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-x wp-block-embed-x\"\/>\n<p>Brooks has built a reputation for being one of the least-liked players in the league. His alleged dirty antics and constant chirping has warranted that notion. But that\u2019s not the only player Lendeborg at one time had some disdain for.<\/p>\n<aside class=\"single__inline-module aligncenter wp-block-nypost-editor-primary-tag\">\n<\/aside>\n<p>After being selected in the first-round of the 2026 NBA Draft,<a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2026\/06\/27\/sports\/warriors-yaxel-lendeborg-gives-honest-answers-when-discussing-steph-curry-steve-kerr\/\"> Lendeborg openly said he used to hate Steph Curry<\/a>. <\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>Warriors Yaxel Lendeborg threw massive shade at Suns star Dillon Brooks.  <span class=\"credit\">Getty Images<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s a full-circle moment for me. I\u2019ve been saying this every time I get asked this question. In 2016, I\u2019m a big Kyrie guy, so I used to hate Steph Curry,\u201d Lendeborg said. \u201cSo now that I\u2019m actually going to be on the same team as him, play and actually learn so much from him, it means a lot.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Brooks comments appears to be the former Wolverine\u2019s latest candid comments.<\/p>\n<p>But the rookie will have to prove that he can indeed keep up with a pesky defender like Brooks once Golden State faces the Suns in their first matchup of the season on Oct. 24. <\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2026\/06\/27\/sports\/warriors-yaxel-lendeborg-gives-honest-answers-when-discussing-steph-curry-steve-kerr\/\">Lendeborg has already made a good first impression<\/a> on head coach Steve Kerr after leading the G-League team to an NBA summer league championship. He finished the title matchup with 21 points and 10 rebounds.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>Yaxel Lendeborg was selected with the No. 11 overall pick by the Warriors in the 2026 NBA Draft. <span class=\"credit\">NBAE via Getty Images<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2026\/08\/11\/sports\/steph-currys-career-faces-sad-ending-amid-warriors-free-agent-failures\/\">Warriors have entered the final years of Curry\u2019s career<\/a> and many feel as though the organization may be squandering their closing campaigns with the 38-year-old.
