Samara Weaving (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nme.com\/reviews\/ready-or-not-film-review-2547895-2547895\"><i>Ready\u00a0Or\u00a0Not<\/i><\/a>) will take on the role of Emma Frost, with Christopher Abbott (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nme.com\/films\/poor-things\"><i>Poor Things<\/i><\/a>) playing Charles Xavier, aka\u00a0Profressor\u00a0X, Maya Boyd (<i>&amp; Juliet<\/i>) appearing as Storm and Inde Navarrette (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nme.com\/films\/obsession\"><i>Obsession<\/i><\/a>) playing Rogue.<\/p>\n<p>The cast joined Feige and director Jake Schreier on stage, while Driver appeared via video. Feige told the audience that most of the actors had only\u00a0met one\u00a0another backstage shortly before the announcement.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Watch the newly announced X-Men cast meet for the very first time backstage at #D23 \u274c\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/sTyaJIRNHVQ?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>\u201cKevin and I had been talking for years about my joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and I think we finally found the perfect film,\u201d Driver said.<\/p>\n<p>He went on to joke that he was \u201cvery excited\u201d to be playing Magneto, before correcting himself and announcing, \u201ceven better, Nathaniel Milbury\u201d, in reference to one of the aliases used by Mister Sinister in Marvel Comics.<\/p>\n<p>Sink\u00a0has\u00a0already\u00a0made her debut as the all-powerful Jean Grey in\u00a0<i>Spider-Man: Brand New Day<\/i>, ending months of speculation about her role in the film.\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nme.com\/reviews\/film-reviews\/spider-man-brand-new-day-review-is-tom-holland-marvels-new-super-saviour-3959622\">In a four-star\u00a0review of that movie<\/a>,\u00a0<i>NME\u00a0<\/i>wrote: \u201cAs for the new additions \u2013 Sadie Sink\u2019s character is intended to be a mystery, so we won\u2019t spoil the big reveal, but she makes for a captivatingly creepy antagonist in the first act before we hear things from her perspective.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The new\u00a0<i>X-Men\u00a0<\/i>film\u00a0will be directed by Schreier, who previously helmed\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nme.com\/films\/thunderbolts\"><i>Thunderbolts*<\/i><\/a>.
