During an April 4 appearance on<em> Baby, This Is Keke Palmer,<\/em> hosted by actress, singer and entrepreneur Keke Palmer, the EGOT winner was asked about the famous quote she often says when the topic of dating comes up:<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cI don\u2019t want anybody in my house.\u201d<\/p>\n<h3 id=\"h-whoopi-goldberg-talks-dating-on-baby-this-is-keke-palmer-here-s-why-she-loves-being-single\" class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Whoopi Goldberg talks dating on <em>Baby, This Is Keke Palmer:<\/em> Here\u2019s why she loves being single.<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Goldberg, 70, <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/reel\/DboXgPJoze7\/\">laughed and clarified<\/a> that she does enjoy having company over, but she admitted that she didn\u2019t see herself living with a romantic partner.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cI think because people want you to believe that you need to be in a relationship,\u201d she explained. For right now, Goldberg is focused on caring and nurturing the love she receives from her family.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cI am in a relationship with my family. They are enough,\u201d<em> The View<\/em> host continued. \u201cThey drop their stuff everywhere\u2026I don\u2019t need somebody I kind of just met like 10 years ago or whatever. I don\u2019t need them in the house. I don\u2019t. I don\u2019t want to have to think about what your needs are, why you\u2019re upset. I don\u2019t want to have to answer questions about why you\u2019re mad at me. I\u2019m happy for you to be at your house. I love a hit and run,\u201d she quipped.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Goldberg explained that her philosophy on dating ultimately inspired her 2015 relationship self-help book, <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.com\/Someone-Says-You-Complete-Relationships\/dp\/0316302015\"><em>If Someone Says \u201cYou Complete Me,\u201d RUN!<\/em> <\/a>The book offers an alternative perspective on marriage and relationships, while exploring why she believes marriage simply isn\u2019t for everyone. Goldberg has been married three times: to Alvin Martin from 1973 to 1979, to David Claessen from 1986 to 1988, and to Lyle Trachtenberg from 1994 to 1995.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For Goldberg, there\u2019s nothing wrong with being alone, being on your own can be deeply satisfying. As the actress put it, she doesn\u2019t need anyone to \u201ccomplete\u201d her; she needs the space to simply be herself, no exceptions.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cI don\u2019t need you to complete me. I need to do me, and I need not to feel bad, or to make myself less than in order to make you feel better,\u201d she explained to Keke Palmer. \u201cLots of people let themselves be diminished by their partner, and I don\u2019t think that\u2019s a good thing for anybody. This is one of the reasons for me that I don\u2019t mind being not attached. I\u2019m okay being not attached because I love lots of people, lots of my friends. I love them to pieces, maybe a couple here and there\u2026 I tried to be married several times\u2026.I kept thinking I\u2019m doing this wrong,\u201d she added, before coming to the realization that all she had to do was be her authentic self.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cWhat I was doing wrong was trying to be not me, but the me they wanted me to be,\u201d Goldberg shared. \u201cAnd I\u2019m very cranky, so I get just very pissy, very pissy, that it\u2019s like I can\u2019t do this anymore.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"listicle-slide\" data-page-number=\"2\">\n<h3 id=\"h-whoopi-goldberg-spoke-about-the-power-of-being-single-in-february\" class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Whoopi Goldberg spoke about the power of being single in February.<\/strong><\/h3>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-9-16 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"\/>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This isn\u2019t the first time Goldberg has spoken about her philosophy on dating. <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.interviewmagazine.com\/culture\/whoopi-goldberg-has-unfinished-business\">During a chat with <em>Interview Magazine<\/em> <\/a>in February, the award-winning celeb said that she had a major realization about her love-life over the years: she\u2019s just not \u201ccut out\u201d to be in a relationship.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cIn the last 25 years, I recognized that not everybody\u2019s cut out to be in a relationship. Some people are just cut out to be one-night stands,\u201d Goldberg told <em>Interview Magazine <\/em>while reflecting on the power of being single.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cIt teaches you several things. Being lonely and being alone are two different things. I don\u2019t necessarily get lonely because there\u2019s enough people around who don\u2019t let me,\u201d she continued. \u201cBut most people are not comfortable being alone because we\u2019ve been taught that there\u2019s something wrong with you if you\u2019re not a pair, that being singular, eating singular, is a bad thing. Sometimes you don\u2019t want to eat with other people. Sometimes you just want to go and have some pasta. You don\u2019t want to say, \u2018Do you want red wine or white wine?\u2019 I don\u2019t give a fuck what you want.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Goldberg added, \u201cWe\u2019re not great at partnerships. There are some people who are brilliant at it, but I think we walk into relationships with a lie and say, \u2018I\u2019m not trying to change you.\u2019 But in fact, you are trying to change them. I\u2019d rather you say, \u2018Listen, I don\u2019t know if I could be true to you.
