miraculously survived being sucked underwater while trying to cross a flooded Arizona bridge \u2014 and the woman who jumped in to save her was nearly swept away herself.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/pimasheriff\">Pima County Sheriff\u2019s Office<\/a> responded to a water rescue at Sabino Canyon Thursday after the 20-year-old woman attempted to ride her bike across a bridge as <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2026\/08\/15\/us-news\/farmer-helped-rescue-toddler-from-drowning-during-indiana-rainfall\/\">raging floodwaters surged<\/a> through the area.<\/p>\n<p>The rushing water swept the woman and her bike underneath the bridge, according to authorities.<\/p>\n<p>Terrifying eyewitness video shows the woman struggling to escape after becoming trapped in a hole before she is suddenly sucked beneath the churning water, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kold.com\/2026\/08\/13\/bystanders-struggle-pull-people-rushing-water-sabino-canyon\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">KOLD reported<\/a>.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/pimasheriff\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\" data-nyp-affiliate=\"true\">Pima County Sheriff\u2019s office<\/a> said a 20-year-old woman had tried to ride her bike across the bridge <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2026\/08\/15\/us-news\/farmer-helped-rescue-toddler-from-drowning-during-indiana-rainfall\/\">before flood waters<\/a> swept her and her bike under. <span class=\"credit\">KOLD NEWS<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>A woman who rushed in to help was also caught in the powerful current and swept downstream, turning the rescue attempt into another emergency.<\/p>\n<aside class=\"single__inline-module aligncenter wp-block-nypost-editor-primary-tag\">\n<\/aside>\n<p>Good Samaritans eventually managed to pull the victims from the water.<\/p>\n<p>The 20-year-old woman was reportedly unresponsive after being rescued and required CPR before she survived the ordeal.<\/p>\n<p>Others in the group quickly rushed in to try to save her as the <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2026\/08\/12\/us-news\/california-college-student-lillie-vehling-saves-3-drowning-girls-in-seattle-lake\/\">good samaritan rescuers<\/a> frantically worked together to try and pull her out. <\/p>\n<p>However, one of them ended up being swallowed up by the rising waters and dragged downstream herself some 100 feet before she was eventually rescued.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>A female cyclist attempted to cross a flooded bridge in Arizona and miraculously survived being pulled under the water as one of her rescuers became a victim herself. <span class=\"credit\">KOLD NEWS<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The video shows one minute she\u2019s next to the group and the next moment the woman was completely under water only to come up on the other side of the bridge in the water chest deep trying to get out.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cShe takes a step back from the rescue efforts as others are trying to say, and she goes underwater and disappears,\u201d Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos said.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>Video shared by an eyewitness showed the woman stuck in a hole struggling to get out before she was quickly sucked down under the water, <span class=\"credit\">ABC 13<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cAnd the video pans out to the right downstream, and that tunnel that she disappeared into literally just threw her out another 100 feet down.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThat\u2019s how powerful that force is,\u201d Nanos added.<\/p>\n<p>The first woman was under water for several minutes before she was eventually pulled out of the water and CPR was started until she regained consciousness, the office said in a post.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDeputies arrived and assisted the subject out of the drainage.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>Others in the group quickly rushed in to try to save her as the <a and pull her out.  <span class=\"credit\">ABC 13<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Two people were taken to a local hospital and were reported to be in stable condition, the post added.<\/p>\n<p>The sheriff said this situation could\u2019ve been a lot worse.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhat if that tunnel had been clogged? What if she bangs her head?
