The seventh-generation Nintendo handheld console was a revolution in the industry, making touch-screen surfaces and brand-new ways of interacting with games a reality. Even by today\u2019s standards, the <a href=\"https:\/\/screenrant.com\/nintendo-ds-games-console-influence\/\" target=\"_blank\">Nintendo DS is highly revolutionary<\/a>, and while its technology has been significantly improved, it laid down a foundation for the future \u2013 take the Nintendo Switch\u2019s touch screen, for instance.<\/p>\n<p>    <!-- No AdsNinja v10 Client! --><!-- No AdsNinja v10 Client! --><\/p>\n<p>Apart from all the new features the Nintendo DS brought, especially when compared as an evolution to the Game Boy Advance, the console was a huge stage for remarkable titles. Some of the <a href=\"https:\/\/screenrant.com\/best-nintendo-ds-games-all-time\/\" target=\"_blank\">very best games for Nintendo DS<\/a> were also some of the best games ever made. For example, the <em>Chrono Trigger<\/em> port for the DS is the best version of the classic Square Enix RPG. We also got tons of <em>Pok\u00e9mon<\/em> games, <em>Mario<\/em> titles, and the outstandingly creative <em>Zelda: Phantom Hourglass<\/em>. They are not only the <a href=\"https:\/\/screenrant.com\/nintendo-ds-10-rated-turn-based-rpgs\/\" target=\"_blank\">best turn-based RPG on Nintendo DS<\/a>, but also, arguably, the very best games on the platform. Nintendo had already experimented with remakes of its own IPs, including <em>Pok\u00e9mon<\/em>. On the Game Boy Advance, Game Freak released <em>Pok\u00e9mon FireRed and LeafGreen<\/em>, remakes of the Gen 1 titles.<\/p>\n<p>However, <em>HeartGold and SoulSilver<\/em> had an ace in the hole: they were remakes of the best Pok\u00e9mon games so far. <em>Gold and Silver<\/em> (and <em>Crystal<\/em>) were impressive evolutions on the formula laid down by <em>Red and Blue<\/em> (and <em>Green<\/em> and <em>Yellow<\/em>). They not only <a href=\"https:\/\/screenrant.com\/pokemon-best-game-each-generation\/\" target=\"_blank\">brought the best <em>Pok\u00e9mon<\/em> Generation to life<\/a>, but they also featured what could be considered the original adventure in what was a surprise 2-for-1 launch. While it may be a small detail, all Pok\u00e9mon in the remakes could follow players freely across the entire game, which was a huge fan request at the time. The sheer amount of content in <em>HeartGold and SoulSilver<\/em> was also impressive, because it not only included Johto and Kanto, but players could even hunt down Hoenn Legendaries in the endgame. <\/p>\n<p>There are rumors of a potential <a href=\"https:\/\/screenrant.com\/pokemon-heart-gold-soul-silver-switch-2-dreams\/\" target=\"_blank\"><em>HeartGold and SoulSilver<\/em> release for Nintendo Switch<\/a>, which would be an incredible experience for both players who checked them out back in 2010, as well as those who have only had contact with the most recent <em>Pok\u00e9mon<\/em> Gens. These two games are the best lesson in remakes the industry can have, and it was only possible because of the <strong>Nintendo DS<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<div class=\"display-card type-video-game large\"
