The Jonathan Tropper penned screenplay is set at the future most point in the <em>Star Wars <\/em>timeline. <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tWhat we learned tonight is that Gosling plays a pilot Kade, a guy who has the swagger of his <em>Drive <\/em>persona, Driver. The footage begins with Flynn Gray\u2019s young man walking into a rusty spaceship garage. He uncovers a spaceship (almost looks like a speeder). That bridge makes a cameo. Levy said it was the same date that the original Star Wars was released 50 years ago. After <a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/tag\/lucasfilm\/\" id=\"auto-tag_lucasfilm\" data-tag=\"lucasfilm\">Lucasfilm<\/a> deep-sixed with the lowest grossing live-action <em>Star Wars <\/em>movie this past summer in the $165M costing (before P&amp;A), <em>Star Wars: Mandalorian<\/em> <em>and Grogu<\/em>, which bottomed out at $345M WW,the new hope is that <em>Skyfighter <\/em>will revive the franchise, thanks to the affable Gosling and Levy, the latter who delivered the highest grossing R-rated movie ever in <em>Deadpool &amp; Wolverine <\/em>which made $1.33 billion.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tBefore showing any footage of Starfighter, Levy showed footage of young Gosling from Mickey Mouse Club.
