It\u2019s widely regarded today as one of the most important horror films in history \u2014 a recent documentary called\u00a0<em>Chain Reactions<\/em> examined its expansive impact \u2014 and continues to spawn new sequels and remakes. (Although the last one of those, 2022\u2019s\u00a0<em>Texas Chainsaw Massacre<\/em> on Netflix was, uh, <a href=\"https:\/\/screencrush.com\/worst-movies-2022\/\">pretty crappy<\/a>.)<\/p>\n<p>The original\u00a0<em>Massacre<\/em> is returning to theaters\u00a0(with that first-look at the rotoscoped\u00a0<em>Texas Chain Saw<\/em>) on August 18, 2026.\u00a0<span style=\"font-weight: 300;\">Fans in LA and Austin have access to special event screenings \u2014\u00a0the L.A. one featuring\u00a0<\/span><em style=\"font-weight: 300;\">Massacre<\/em><span style=\"font-weight: 300;\"> cinematographer Daniel Pearl, and the Texas one with cast members Teri McMinn\u00a0and\u00a0Allen Danziger.
