The cast of Jake Schreier\u2019s upcoming <a href=\"https:\/\/consequence.net\/tag\/x-men\/\" target=\"_blank\"><i>X-Men<\/i><\/a> movie was finally revealed at Disney\u2019s D23 event: The previously revealed <a href=\"https:\/\/consequence.net\/2026\/07\/sadie-sink-spider-man-brand-new-day-explained\/\" target=\"_blank\">Sadie Sink as Jean Grey<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/consequence.net\/2026\/07\/samara-weaving-x-men-emma-frost\/\" target=\"_blank\">Samara Weaving as Emma Frost<\/a>, and <a href=\"https:\/\/consequence.net\/2026\/08\/kit-connor-x-men-cyclops-mcu\/\" target=\"_blank\">Kit Connor as Cyclops<\/a> were joined by <a href=\"https:\/\/consequence.net\/2026\/05\/obsession-movie-curry-barker\/\" target=\"_blank\"><em>Obsession <\/em>star Inde Navarette<\/a>, confirmed as Rogue, and <a href=\"https:\/\/consequence.net\/tag\/christopher-abbott\/\" target=\"_blank\">Christopher Abbott<\/a>, our new Professor X. Additionally, we\u2019ve got a\u00a0<em>Girls<\/em> reunion, as Adam Driver as been cast as the villainous Mr. Sinister, and Maya Boyd is the new Storm.<\/p>\n<p>The <i>X-Men<\/i> movies \u2014 one of the first major superhero movie franchises \u2014 began with the 2000 film starring Patrick Stewart and Hugh Jackman, followed by 2002\u2019s acclaimed <i>X2<\/i> and much-less-acclaimed <i>X-Men: The Last Stand<\/i>.<\/p>\n<p>That trilogy was followed by the Jackman-starring <i>X-Men: Origins \u2014 Wolverine<\/i> in 2009. Then a new, younger cast was brought in for the Matthew Vaughn-directed <i>X-Men: First Class<\/i>, which led subsequently to the films <i>Days of Future Past<\/i>, <i>Apocalypse<\/i>, and <i>Dark Phoenix<\/i>. Jackman\u2019s Wolverine was given a swan song with 2017\u2019s <i>Logan<\/i>, but then literally resurrected in <a href=\"https:\/\/consequence.net\/tag\/deadpool-and-wolverine\/\" target=\"_blank\">the third of Ryan Reynolds\u2019 <i>Deadpool<\/i> movies<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Related Video<\/p>\n<p>All of those movies (oh and <i>The New Mutants<\/i>, can\u2019t forget about that one) were made by 20th Century Fox, meaning that the mutants couldn\u2019t be integrated with the rest of the <a href=\"https:\/\/consequence.net\/tag\/marvel-cinematic-universe\/\" target=\"_blank\">MCU<\/a> for rights reasons. Disney\u2019s acquisition of Fox changed all that, of course.<\/p>\n<p>The new X-Men will be in theaters on May 5th, 2028.
