Superior Court exclaims (<a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/2026.08.14-30-NOTICE-OF-MOTION-AND-MOTION-to-Strike-and-Motion-to-Dismiss.pdf\">read it here<\/a>). <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tAiming for an October 30 hearing on its anti-SLAPP and dismissal motion, Netflix\u2019s attorneys at Gibson, Dunn &amp; Crutcher skewer Banks\u2019 June 13 filing with Anna Wintour precision.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tFriday\u2019s motion adds: \u201cDocumentary filmmakers decide whom to interview, what to ask, which answers to include, how to sequence competing accounts, and what to leave on the cutting-room floor. Banks expressly agreed those decisions belonged to the filmmakers. Dissatisfaction with editorial judgments is not actionable defamation.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tIn case you\u2019re missing the point Netflix is making about Banks\u2019 complaint, the motion lays it out with unadorned clarity.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\t\u201cStrip away the Complaint\u2019s rhetoric of \u2018manipulation\u2019 and \u2018surgical editing,\u2019 and Banks\u2019s theory reduces to a request for more airtime and an edit more to her liking,\u201d the 28-page motion says. \u201cDefamation law does not permit that result, and courts do not second-guess editorial judgments merely because an interview subject would have preferred different ones.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tIn a direct statement to Deadline, Netflix reiterated its opposition to Banks\u2019 suit as well as its determination to not only defend <em>Reality Check <\/em>and its directors (who are named as defendant\u2019s in the model\u2019s suit). <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\t\u201cDirectors Daniel Sivan and Mor Loushy are respected documentarians who thoroughly interviewed the people behind America\u2019s Next Top Model,\u201d a Netflix spokesperson told Deadline on Friday. \u201cTyra Banks was given the opportunity to speak openly about her experience and the creators fairly presented her perspective alongside those of every other participant shown in this documentary.
