The aforementioned proclamation, present in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtontimes.com\/topics\/isaiah\/\">Isaiah<\/a> 5:20, continues: \u201cWho put darkness for light, and light for darkness; Who put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!\u201d<\/p>\n<p>We often see blatant examples of humanity falling into this flagrant trap, with some of these egregious instances showing what happens when the darkness of the human heart eclipses all that is good, right and noble.<\/p>\n<p>The latest example emerged in recent days when a video of Democratic <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtontimes.com\/topics\/massachusetts\/\">Massachusetts<\/a> Gov. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtontimes.com\/topics\/maura-healey\/\">Maura Healey<\/a> signing the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtontimes.com\/topics\/prioritizing-patient-access-to-care-act\/\">Prioritizing Patient Access to Care Act<\/a> circulated on social media and immediately went viral.<\/p>\n<p>In the video, Ms. Healey is seen surrounded by women who are robotically clapping and smiling in support of the newly minted draconian abortion law and the governor\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/politics\/dem-gov-maura-healey-signs-sweeping-massachusetts-bill-allowing-abortions-up-birth\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">decision<\/a> to make <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtontimes.com\/topics\/massachusetts\/\">Massachusetts<\/a> the 10th state in America to permit abortion leading up to birth.<\/p>\n<aside>\n<\/aside>\n<p>There was once a time when Democratic politicians \u2014 those most likely to obsess over abortion rights \u2014 would adhere to a \u201csafe, legal and rare\u201d mantra, pushing back against any semblance of a worldview that would seek unfettered abortion throughout any gestational state.<\/p>\n<p>In fact, not long ago some of these individuals would have denied the very existence of attempts within the liberal ranks to slash any and all such restrictions. But amid the glee and chilling applause surrounding Ms. Healey\u2019s signature escapade, we can clearly see that the darkness has indubitably eclipsed the light.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtontimes.com\/topics\/massachusetts\/\">Massachusetts<\/a>\u2019 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtontimes.com\/topics\/prioritizing-patient-access-to-care-act\/\">Prioritizing Patient Access to Care Act<\/a> removes gestational limits that were once present on abortion to allow providers to perform abortions later in a pregnancy.<\/p>\n<p>Previously, the state <a href=\"https:\/\/www.snopes.com\/fact-check\/massachusetts-abortion-until-birth\/\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">allowed abortions<\/a> after 24 weeks in four specific cases: to preserve a woman\u2019s life, to preserve the woman\u2019s physical or mental wellbeing, if there was a defect or issue that would lead to the death of the baby, or if there was a severe issue that would make it difficult for the child to live outside the womb \u201cwithout extraordinary medical interventions.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The language has now been changed to eliminate these requirements and to simply put the abortion decision in the hands of physicians. It <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bostonherald.com\/2026\/08\/13\/gov-healeys-abortion-bill-faces-criticism-from-massachusetts-catholics-politically-motivated\/\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">reads<\/a> that \u201can abortion may be performed by a physician based upon the professional judgment of the physician.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The problem? There\u2019s an entire industrial complex of doctors and medical providers who make a living off abortions. So \u201cprofessional judgment\u201d likely means nothing here and simply serves as a Trojan Horse for abortion on demand, in any gestational phase \u2014 and for any reason.<\/p>\n<p>As is typically the case, proponents claim it\u2019s about addressing medical complications women and unborn babies might face, yet this always seems to be the language used to conceal and implement the unthinkable.<\/p>\n<p>Ms. Healey, of course, is making these horrors seem palatable \u2014 and even compassionate in some way.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe believe that health care decisions should be made between women and families and their doctors, not politicians,\u201d the governor said. \u201cAbortion will remain safe. It will remain legal, and it will remain accessible here in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtontimes.com\/topics\/massachusetts\/\">Massachusetts<\/a>. That\u2019s my commitment to you.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Of course, anyone paying attention knows that abortion is never safe for the victim, an unborn child who can now be murdered without any protections by doctors who can simply decide, based on their own moral and ethical framework, that an abortion is \u201cneeded.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Consider this: There is very little data on the motivating factors for late-term abortions. While it\u2019s true many women seek them for reasons surrounding fetal health, definitive conclusions are impossible without solidified research into the matter. And some research actually indicates reasons late in pregnancy mirror those early on, which offers a disturbing layer to ponder.<\/p>\n<p>It would seem prudent and common sense for governments bent on protecting the vulnerable to ensure in the law that protections for late-term fetuses remain in place. This new law erodes any such protections and puts the decision in the hands of doctors who seek to profit from abortion.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s the very example of calling \u201cevil good and good evil,\u201d with Ms. Healey\u2019s focus residing entirely on the woman, which, in turn, treats the unborn baby in an inhumane and unfathomable way.
