slightly chaotic start after an <a data-ico=\"hyperlink-article\" href=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/2026\/08\/14\/millions-startled-emergency-alert-wildfire-warning-uk-blazes-29380194\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/2026\/08\/14\/millions-startled-emergency-alert-wildfire-warning-uk-blazes-29380194\/\">emergency wildfire alert<\/a> loudly interrupted the programme live on air.<\/p>\n<p>The <a data-ico=\"hyperlink-article\" data-track=\"inline-tag-auto-link_article\" href=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/tag\/bbc-2\/\">BBC<\/a> chat show was just minutes into a special extended hour-long episode when presenters <a data-ico=\"hyperlink-article\" href=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/tag\/alex-jones\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/tag\/alex-jones\/\">Alex Jones<\/a> and <a data-ico=\"hyperlink-article\" data-track=\"inline-tag-auto-link_article\" href=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/tag\/roman-kemp\/\">Roman Kemp<\/a> suddenly found themselves competing with the unmistakable sound of an emergency alarm.<\/p>\n<p>The pair had been running through what viewers could expect from the anniversary show when the noise began blasting through the studio.<\/p>\n<p>Kemp was in the middle of revealing that former presenter <a data-ico=\"hyperlink-article\" href=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/tag\/christine-bleakley\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/tag\/christine-bleakley\/\">Christine Lampard<\/a> would be returning as part of the celebrations when the alarm became impossible to ignore.<\/p>\n<p>While the 33-year-old gamely attempted to continue with the introduction, Jones looked around the studio, shook her head and raised her hands in confusion.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018You couldn\u2019t make that up could you,\u2019 the longtime One Show presenter said. \u2018Is that a fire alarm?\u2019 Kemp then turned towards somebody off BBC)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Rather than abandoning the broadcast, the presenters quickly decided to press ahead, risking it all for the broadcast.\u2018We continue,\u2019 they declared, before carrying on with the rundown of the evening\u2019s anniversary festivities as the alarm continued in the background.<\/p>\n<p>Eventually, silence returned to the studio, prompting a relieved Kemp to announce: \u2018Ok, it\u2019s stopped.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>Despite the unfortunate timing, there was no emergency unfolding inside the BBC studio.<\/p>\n<p>Instead, the interruption was caused by a Government emergency alert being sent to mobile phones across England and Wales amid the growing threat of wildfires.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"img-container shareable-item wp-caption\">\n<div Alerts)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The alerts began being distributed on a rolling basis from 7pm, meaning the special happened to be starting at exactly the wrong moment for a studio presumably filled with mobile phones.<\/p>\n<p>The warning urged members of the public to avoid lighting anything that could potentially start a blaze, including barbecues, campfires and fireworks.<\/p>\n<p>It read: \u2018There is a very high risk of wildfires nationally. Residents, landowners and visitors should not undertake any activity that could start a fire, including disposable barbecues, firepits, garden incinerators or fireworks.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018Even a small flame can rapidly develop into a major wildfire, placing lives, homes, businesses and emergency responders at risk.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018Follow official updates and report signs of fire immediately by calling 999. Some of them lost \u2018everything\u2019.<\/p>\n<p>After airing a pre-recorded segment, Kemp returned to clear up the confusion for viewers who may have wondered whether The One Show\u2019s birthday celebrations were about to end with the studio being evacuated.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018As you will probably be aware that was actually a wildfire alert on everyone\u2019s phones,\u2019 he
