Yet visual spectacle alone does not make a fantasy movie a masterpiece.<\/p>\n<p>Narrowing an entire century down to 10 movies means leaving out plenty of beloved classics. Some <a href=\"https:\/\/screenrant.com\/forgotten-fantasy-movies-aged-fine-wine\/\" target=\"_blank\">forgotten fantasy movies have aged remarkably well<\/a>, while cult favorites such as <em>The NeverEnding Story<\/em> and <em>Return to Oz<\/em> remain enormously influential. <em>Conan the Barbarian<\/em> helped define an entire strain of sword-and-sorcery filmmaking.
