{"id":44354,"date":"2026-08-14T12:56:16","date_gmt":"2026-08-14T07:56:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/usnews-14267fa.ingress-comporellon.ewp.live\/?p=44354"},"modified":"2026-08-14T12:56:16","modified_gmt":"2026-08-14T07:56:16","slug":"georgia-executives-david-bradford-julie-edwards-sentenced-in-380m-ponzi-scheme","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/usnews-14267fa.ingress-comporellon.ewp.live\/?p=44354","title":{"rendered":"Georgia executives David Bradford Julie Edwards sentenced in $380M Ponzi scheme"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><script>\r\n  atOptions = {\r\n    'key' : '644b717812d811d6a1c1fc5b6ccd6fa6',\r\n    'format' : 'iframe',\r\n    'height' : 90,\r\n    'width' : 728,\r\n    'params' : {}\r\n  };\r\n<\/script>\r\n<script src=\"https:\/\/www.highperformanceformat.com\/644b717812d811d6a1c1fc5b6ccd6fa6\/invoke.js\"><\/script>\r\n<br \/>\n<br \/><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content%2Fuploads%2Fsites%2F2%2F2026%2F08%2Fnewspress-collage-18dihyoq4-1786692301276.jpg?quality%3D90%26strip%3Dall%261786677948\" \/><\/p>\n<div>\n<p>Two conspiring financial group executives who conned thousands of victims in the <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2026\/01\/22\/us-news\/florida-financial-advisor-todd-burkhalter-pleads-guilty-to-380m-ponzi-scheme-in-georgia-largest-scheme\/\">largest Ponzi scheme in Georgia<\/a> history were handed light prison sentences \u2014 as one con man declared he was a \u201ccoward\u201d for the heartless crimes.<\/p>\n<p>Ex-Drive Planning Chief Operating Officer David Bradford and Chief Administrative Officer Julie Edwards helped CEO Todd Burkholter orchestrate a plot that defrauded over 2,000 investors out of $380 million to help fund their lavish lifestyles.<\/p>\n<p>Bradford and Edwards were sentenced to measly four years and two years behind bars for their roles in the nefarious ruse that spanned several years,<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ajc.com\/news\/2026\/08\/leader-of-alpharetta-firm-accused-in-380m-ponzi-scheme-gets-4-years-prison\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"> the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported.<\/a><\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>Drive Planning COO David Bradford and CEO Todd Burkholter both pleaded guilty in a massive Ponzi scheme spanning between 2020 and 2024. <span class=\"credit\">Facebook\/Todd Burkhalter<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The company, now in receivership, marketed several investment opportunities for prospective investors, including \u201cReal Estate Acceleration Loan\u201d opportunity (\u201cREAL\u201d) and the \u201cCash Out Real Estate Fund\u201d (\u201cCORE Fund\u201d).<\/p>\n<p>The executives told their targets that the CORE Fund provided \u201c100% Passive Income from Tax Liens\u201d\u00a0while guaranteeing a\u00a0return of 10% every six months or a 22% return per year for up to three years, federal prosecutors said.<\/p>\n<aside class=\"single__inline-module aligncenter wp-block-nypost-editor-primary-tag\">\n<\/aside>\n<p>Drive Planning executives never told investors that money received from the CORE Fund after December 9, 2022, wasn\u2019t invested as they claimed they would.<\/p>\n<p>Bradford, a 53-year-old pastor and father of six, pleaded guilty in December to conspiracy to commit wire fraud in a $4 million case.<\/p>\n<p>He claimed he was remorseful for his crimes and acknowledged that he had hurt his victims during his sentencing hearing Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI was a coward,\u201d Bradford said in court, according to the outlet. \u201cI participated in that fraud and I benefited from it, and there\u2019s no excuse for what I did.
