A spark for the album began more than three years ago, after Badu told her longtime creative partner, Cold Cris, how she had always wanted to rap over Alchemist\u2019s beat for Mobb Deep\u2019s \u201cThe Realest.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><a href=\"https:\/\/vivid-seats.pxf.io\/c\/1882189\/952533\/12730?subId1=erykah-badu%2Aalchemist-album-announcement-witch-doctor-button&amp;subId2=&amp;subId3=&amp;sharedid=&amp;u=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.vividseats.com%2Ferykah-badu-tickets%2Fperformer%2F278\" class=\"button button-ticket\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Find Erykah Badu Tickets<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Badu and The Alchemist met shortly after, with their conversations quickly turning to recording a collaborative project. The first session produced <a href=\"https:\/\/consequence.net\/2025\/06\/erykah-badu-new-song-next-to-you-the-alchemist\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u201cNext to You,\u201d<\/a> and they established a sonic language where Alchemist\u2019s production was \u201cembellished\u201d with instruments added by Badu. According to a press release, the album\u2019s sound moves between \u201csoul, blues, funk, rock, jazz, and underground hip-hop.\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/abiandalan.ffm.to\/btwb\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">Pre-orders<\/a> are now underway.<\/p>\n<p>Related Video<\/p>\n<p>Spanning nearly six-and-a-half minutes, \u201cWitch Doctor\u201d features a soulful beat layered with percussive instrumentation.
