It was moving east.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, in the Pacific Ocean, the National Hurricane Center initiated advisories on Potential Tropical Cyclone One-C, which was located about 935 miles east-southeast of Hilo, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtontimes.com\/topics\/hawaii\/\">Hawaii<\/a> and packed winds of 35 mph.<\/p>\n<p>The center said the system was moving west and was expected to strengthen into a tropical storm Thursday before nearing the Hawaiian Islands. A hurricane watch or tropical storm watch will likely be needed for the islands by early Thursday, forecasters said.<\/p>\n<p>The system could bring rainfall totals of 5 to 10 inches in the island chain, with up to 20 inches possible, forecasters said.
