Adriano Espaillat in large part <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2026\/06\/24\/us-news\/mamdanis-red-wedding-sweep-in-nyc-congressional-races-came-from-small-sliver-of-dem-voters\/%5C\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">by activating the gentrifier vote<\/a> in his upper Manhattan district.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>In short, Queens Borough President Donovan Richards had a point when he <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2026\/07\/20\/us-news\/black-nyc-politician-slams-dsa-as-white-supremacy-as-growing-dem-feud-spills-onto-social-media\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">chided the DSA for \u201cwhite supremacy\u201d<\/a>: It <em>is<\/em> dominated by rich, whiny white kids running roughshod over <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2026\/02\/23\/us-news\/black-nyc-homeowners-slam-mamdanis-property-tax-increase-scheme\/\">the actual priorities<\/a> of the marginalized people they claim to care about.<\/p>\n<div class=\"single__inline-module inline-module inline-module--newsletter aligncenter inline-module--nypostbusinessunit aligncenter wp-block-nypost-editor-newsletter\" data-source-unit=\"Inline Newsletter Module Post Opinion\">\n<div class=\"inline-module__inner\">\n<div class=\"inline-module__title-wrapper\">\n<div class=\"inline-module__unsubmitted-title-wrapper\">\n<h3 class=\"inline-module__title headline headline--combo-sm-md\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\tGet opinions and commentary from our columnists\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/h3>\n<p class=\"inline-module__cta\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\tSubscribe to our daily Post Opinion newsletter!\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p><h3 class=\"inline-module__title headline headline--combo-sm-md\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\tThanks for signing up!\t\t\t\t\t<\/h3>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>So whenever Mamdani or his apparatchiks like tenant-protection czar <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2026\/01\/16\/opinion\/cea-weaver-strikes-again-how-the-radical-left-tenant-advocate-targets-americas-promise\/\">Cea Weaver<\/a> start blathering about systemic racism and equity, remember the DSA\u2019s own separate-and-unequal nature.<\/p>\n<p>In reality, the DSA\u2019s \u201cpopulist\u201d appeal is all in its members\u2019 ideology-soaked heads: Even in deep-blue New York state, it only notches 30% support from all voters<strong>, <\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2026\/08\/12\/us-news\/half-of-new-york-voters-view-dsa-unfavorable-siena-poll\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">per a new Siena poll<\/a> \u2014 and that number plummets to 16% in the suburbs.<\/p>\n<p>Democratic Socialism, in short, is the politics of the privileged \u2014 and its supporters\u2019 belief to the contrary, ironically, is just an epic bit of false consciousness.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<script async=\"async\" data-cfasync=\"false\" src=\"https:\/\/pl30214220.effectivecpmnetwork.com\/9ab3d4df8a7e1a6171e16ddbf732cc19\/invoke.js\"><\/script>\r\n<div id=\"container-9ab3d4df8a7e1a6171e16ddbf732cc19\"><\/div>\r\n\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By its own count, the New York City chapter of the Democratic Socialists of America is almost twice as white as Gotham overall.
