Despite the verdict falling well short of the amount the plaintiff wanted, Brown is still pushing for a retrial.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">On August 10, the singer\u2019s attorneys filed a motion to toss the verdict, citing that $13 million was an \u201cexcessive\u201d amount, per <em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.billboard.com\/pro\/chris-brown-contests-dog-attack-verdict-rihanna-assault\/\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\" aria-label=\"(opens in a new tab)\">Billboard<\/a><\/em>. Before the dog attack trial started, the singer\u2019s legal team requested the judge to <a href=\"https:\/\/theblast.com\/764475\/chris-brown-wants-rihanna-left-out-battle-with-ex-housekeeper\/\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\" aria-label=\"(opens in a new tab)\">ban any mention<\/a> of the conviction.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">During a cross-examination, however, Brown was asked whether he had prior convictions, prompting him to answer \u201cYes, ma\u2019am.\u201d No other details were provided, however.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The new filing reads, \u201cMr. Brown\u2019s conduct in an unrelated domestic-violence matter 17 years prior had no bearing on Plaintiffs\u2019 alleged injuries, causation or damages.\u201d The attorneys further stated that the singer\u2019s past convictions do not correlate with his \u201chonesty or veracity.\u201d<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"h-chris-brown-s-team-argues-evidence-left-out-affected-verdict\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Chris Brown\u2019s Team Argues Evidence Left Out Affected Verdict<\/h2>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-x wp-block-embed-x\"\/>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Apart from the mention of prior convictions, Brown\u2019s legal team noted that important evidence was excluded in the proceedings, which could have affected the outcome of the verdict. It\u2019s important to note that the dog attack trial was not about whether Brown was liable, but rather the extent of his liability.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Brown\u2019s camp claims the singer\u2019s head of security gave money to the housekeeper\u2019s family after the attack, information that was left out of the trial. That, the attorneys say, increased the value awarded to the plaintiff. The husband, meanwhile, said his wife\u2019s injuries negatively affected their marriage. In July, her attorney, Nancy Doumanian, claimed their attempts to contact Brown\u2019s team went unanswered. She filed a motion to collect what her <a href=\"https:\/\/www.billboard.com\/pro\/chris-brown-housekeeper-usher-tour-profits-dog-bite-verdict\/\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\" aria-label=\"(opens in a new tab)\">client is owed<\/a>, citing that Brown is currently on a massive tour that can cover the fees.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Doumanian has also responded to Brown\u2019s recent filing, and she thinks the judge will not agree to Brown\u2019s request for a new trial. \u201cYou can\u2019t hit the reset button every time a jury holds you accountable. The evidence was overwhelming, the jury got it right, and we\u2019re confident this motion will meet the same fate as the defense did at trial,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Brown kicked off the <a href=\"https:\/\/theblast.com\/794637\/usher-chris-brown-unite-fandoms-joint-tour-aint-enough-seats-house-this\/\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\" aria-label=\"(opens in a new tab)\">R&amp;B Tour<\/a> with Usher in June, and the tour is scheduled to conclude in December.
