I noticed my own behavior changing. I was thinking about alcohol differently.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Emmy winner recalled reaching out to a higher power. \u201c\u2018God, I think You want me to stop drinking. I would be willing to stop, but you have to make it happen because I can\u2019t. I\u2019m willing, but I\u2019m unable,&#8217;\u201d she said, recounting a prayer.<\/p>\n<p>Heaton\u2019s answer, she recalled, came swiftly in a confrontation with her youngest son that \u201cmortified\u201d her. <\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-full\"><figcaption>A comment from Daniel \u201cmortified\u201d her, she shared. My youngest son said, \u2018That\u2019s great, mom. You can\u2019t even speak.&#8217;\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The sitcom star \u2014 who shares sons Samuel, John, Joseph and Daniel with longtime husband David Hunt \u2014 said she went back to God to acknowledge the message.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe next morning I said, \u2018OK, God. In a 2021 social media upload, she shared with followers that she was celebrating three years of \u201cfreedom from\u00a0alcohol.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s July when we celebrate our nation\u2019s freedom. Also celebrating three years of freedom from alcohol for me,\u201d she said in a clip as she took a brisk walk around a reservoir. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cSo, just wanted to share that with you,\u201d she added. \u201cAnd message me if any of you are thinking about doing that, any of you are doing that now and need some encouragement or anything at all.
