href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2026\/08\/11\/us-news\/lindsay-clancys-worst-day-revealed-weeks-before-she-killed-her-3-kids\/\"> chilling messages to a nurse practitioner<\/a> in the weeks before she strangled her three young kids and tried to kill herself were reavealed this week during her murder trial. <\/p>\n<p>Clancy, then 32, sent nurse practitioner Rebecca Jollotta a string of messages in early December, describing she was overwhelmed by intrusive thoughts, concerned she could be addicted to an anxiety medication, and disturbed that she was \u201ccompletely numb.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI feel like I\u2019m going to die and I don\u2019t care,\u201d the Massachusetts mother of three messaged Jollotta, who works at South Shore Hospital\u2019s Perinatal Behavioral Clinic, on MyChart on target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">the Daily Mail<\/a> reported. <\/p>\n<p>Jollotta responded, telling Clancy that intrusive thoughts were \u201cquite common\u201d in women suffering from postpartum depression. <\/p>\n<aside class=\"single__inline-module aligncenter wp-block-nypost-editor-primary-tag\">\n<\/aside>\n<p>\u201cThey mean nothing about you as a mother,\u201d Jollotta maintained. <\/p>\n<p>Just over a month later, on January 24, 2023, Clancy <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2026\/07\/30\/us-news\/cop-breaks-down-in-lindsay-clancy-murder-trial-describing-3-strangled-kids\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">murdered her kids Cora, 5, Dawson, 3, and Callan<\/a>, who was 8 months old, with exercise bands before she slit her wrists and throat and threw herself from the second story of her Duxbury, Mass., home, leaving her partially paralyzed.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>Rebecca During that time, Jollotta prescribed her a slew of powerful psychiatric medications.<\/p>\n<p>A day after starting treatment with Jollotta, on Nov. 30, Clancy messaged the healthcare provider stating, \u201cWhat I\u2019m really feeling is I cannot go on this way,\u201d the outlet reported. <\/p>\n<p>Later that day, Clancy asked Jollotta if they could call, but the nurse practitioner testified at her murder trial that she was too busy seeing other patients and had a more junior member of her staff call her instead. <\/p>\n<p>Over the next two days, Clancy, a former labor and delivery nurse, started describing her intrusive thoughts and concerns about her overall treatment plan and medications. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s just a very scary stressful time for me, and starting new meds with side effects is very scary to me,\u201d she wrote.<\/p>\n<p>Clancy continued on Dec. 2, writing, \u201cI took the Remeron,\u201d referring to an antidepressant used for insomnia. <\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>Lindsay and Patrick Clancy pose with their children Cora, 6, Dawson, 3, and Callan, 8 months, in the fall of 2022. <span class=\"credit\">Plymouth Superior Court<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cI woke up at 12:15 and had intrusive thoughts \u2013 of wanting it all to be over.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Clancy then pressed Jollotta about whether she could be addicted to the anxiety drug Ativan \u2014 stating she did not feel she was \u201cbeing heard that that is a possibility.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI really need to explore the option that I am addicted to Ativan,\u201d Clancy said. \u201cI feel addicted to it, and I feel like I\u2019m not being heard that that is a possibility,\u201d she wrote, per the outlet.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI feel like we are throwing all these different meds at my insomnia when the root cause is Ativan dependence. I don\u2019t feel any of the anxious thoughts I had before.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI feel completely numb,\u201d she said. \u201cI feel like I\u2019m going to die, and I don\u2019t care. What do I do about this?\u201d<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>Jollotta treated Clancy from Nov. 29, 2022 to Dec. 13, 2022, after a colleague left the clinic and transferred her to her care. <span class=\"credit\">AP Photo\/Michael Casey<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Jollotta testified in court that she did not believe the mom was addicted to the medications and that the string of comments showed she was experiencing suicidal ideation. <\/p>\n<p>Clancy, now 36, called Jollotta on Dec. 15, 2022, with her then-husband, Patrick Clancy, to report she was having such dark thoughts and that they would likely go to the emergency department of Mass General Hospital \u2014 with the pair referring to it as the \u201cworst day for Lindsay.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>She was having \u201cpersistent and intrusive thoughts of suicide,\u201d but she had \u201cno active plan\u201d to harm herself, Jollotta said, reading from her notes about the phone call.<\/p>\n<p>Clancy did go to the emergency room that day and ended up opting out of checking into mental institution McLean Hospital, deciding instead to join an outpatient program at Women and Infants Hospital in Rhode Island, Jollotta said.<\/p>\n<p>The nurse practitioner had \u201cstrongly, strongly\u201d recommended that Clancy check into Women and Infants in a Dec. 12, 2022 MyChart message<a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2026\/08\/05\/us-news\/lindsay-clancys-diary-reveals-her-inner-torment-before-she-killed-3-kids-i-want-to-die\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">\u00a0to the struggling postpartum mom<\/a>, the jury learned.<\/p>\n<p>But when Clancy went to the Rhode Island facility on Dec. 20, 2022, they turned her away because they thought she might have been taking too many prescription medications, according to Clancy\u2019s lawyer, Kevin Reddington.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>Clancy has been charged with strangling her two children to death and attempting to kill her eight-month-old baby before trying to take her own life. <span class=\"credit\">lind.say.969\/Facebook<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cDid you know that, in fact, they wouldn\u2019t accept her because of their concern she\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2026\/08\/05\/us-news\/here-are-all-the-powerful-drugs-found-in-lindsay-clancys-system-after-she-strangled-her-three-kids\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">had been overmedicated on drugs?\u201d\u00a0<\/a>Reddington said to Jollotta during cross-examination.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI can\u2019t speak to that,\u201d the nurse practitioner responded, noting she wasn\u2019t affiliated with the other hospital.<\/p>\n<p>Women and Infants recommended that Clancy enter a general mental health facility like McLean, rather than the hospital that specialized in postpartum care, Clancy told Jollotta over MyChart the next day on Dec. 21, 2022.<\/p>\n<p>Jollotta previously met with Clancy and Patrick in person during a Dec. 6, 2022, visit and raised the possibility that Clancy could have bipolar disorder, she testified.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI recall Patrick saying, \u2018My wife is not bipolar,\u2019\u201d Jollotta said.<\/p>\n<p>Jollotta explained that she suspected bipolar disorder because of Clancy\u2019s intense reactions to selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors like Zoloft and Prozac \u2013 a common side effect for people with bipolar disorder.<\/p>\n<p>The lack of sleep with no fatigue could be a symptom of a manic episode, Jollotta said. The nurse practitioner said she thought Clancy\u2019s contradictory symptoms suggested she might be in a \u201cmixed manic, hypomanic state.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Still, Jollotta never had concerns Clancy was in psychosis, she testified.<\/p>\n<p>Clancy also confessed in her journal that she was deeply struggling with postpartum depression, anxiety, insomnia, and being wracked with guilt over how she was raising 8-month-old Callan.<\/p>\n<p>She wrote in the diary that she had \u201chorrible PTSD from sleep training Callan\u201d and felt terrible that she had to stop breastfeeding him, according to excerpts of the journal read to a jury.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<script async=\"async\" data-cfasync=\"false\" src=\"https:\/\/pl30214220.effectivecpmnetwork.com\/9ab3d4df8a7e1a6171e16ddbf732cc19\/invoke.js\"><\/script>\r\n<div id=\"container-9ab3d4df8a7e1a6171e16ddbf732cc19\"><\/div>\r\n\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Lindsay Clancy\u2019s chilling messages to a nurse practitioner in the weeks before she strangled her three young kids and tried to kill herself were reavealed this week during her murder trial.
