Her arrest comes as state officials continue investigating the death of 18-year-old Nolan Wells, making her the second person in recent weeks to face federal charges for allegedly threatening Mississippi officials connected to the high-profile case.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>RELATED CONTENT <\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/madamenoire.com\/1680596\/nolan-wells-black-parents-op-ed\/\"><strong>Nolan Wells Didn\u2019t Just Break Our Hearts \u2014 He Reminded Black Parents Why We\u2019ve Always Said \u2018No\u2019 [Op-Ed]<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<h3 id=\"h-michelle-francine-edwards-bomb-threats-what-happened\" class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Michelle Francine Edwards bomb threats: What happened?<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">According to federal court filings obtained by <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/people.com\/woman-charged-after-allegedly-making-bomb-threats-to-miss-government-offices-following-nolan-wells-death-investigation-12032318\"><em>People<\/em><\/a> and <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.wbtv.com\/2026\/08\/01\/woman-accused-making-bomb-threats-government-offices-after-nolan-wells-death\/\"><em>WBTV<\/em><\/a>, Edwards, of Cincinnati, was charged on July 30, with transmitting in interstate commerce a threatening communication to kill or injure another person and to damage or destroy a building.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Investigators allege Edwards first targeted the George County Chancery Clerk\u2019s Office on July 23, beginning at approximately 1:34 p.m. local time. Using *67 to conceal her caller ID, she allegedly placed 21 calls over an eight-minute span, during which she threatened employees and repeatedly referenced a bomb.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cDo not go outside,\u201d she said in one call, according to the filing.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThe clock is ticking,\u201d she said in another.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cDie,\u201d Edwards said in yet another call.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Roughly 20 minutes later, investigators allege Edwards began calling the Jackson County Sheriff\u2019s Office, which is leading the investigation into Wells\u2019 death.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Authorities say she again blocked her caller ID and placed approximately eight calls to the sheriff\u2019s office, allegedly telling dispatchers, \u201cY\u2019all got a bomb outside. Don\u2019t come outside, b\u2014-.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cY\u2019all still there?\u201d she asked in a subsequent call, according to investigators.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div data-page-number=\"1\">\n<h3 id=\"h-authorities-found-no-indication-of-a-bomb-threat-nbsp\" class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Authorities found no indication of a bomb threat.\u00a0<\/strong><\/h3>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"\/>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Following the threats, the Jackson County Sheriff\u2019s Office conducted a full bomb sweep and placed the property on lockdown. No explosive devices were found.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Investigators later submitted an emergency disclosure request to C-Spire and Verizon, which provided the phone number allegedly used to make the calls. Using open-source records, authorities determined the number was linked to a Cash App account associated with the name Michelle Edwards.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Per <em>WBTV<\/em> authorities <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.wbtv.com\/2026\/08\/01\/woman-accused-making-bomb-threats-government-offices-after-nolan-wells-death\/\">also noted that<\/a> \u201csaid cell tower data from the night of the incident showed the device associated with the number had \u2018bedded down\u2019 near Edwards\u2019 known addresses in Cincinnati, Ohio.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Michelle Francine Edwards is the second person arrested in connection with threats made against Mississippi public officials and government offices in the weeks following Wells\u2019 disappearance and death. The 18-year-old went missing after attending a large Fourth of July party on Horn Island, just off Mississippi\u2019s Gulf Coast, and was later found dead.<\/p>\n<h3 id=\"h-joseph-alfredo-vasquez-dumarce-was-also-arrested-and-charged-for-making-bomb-threats\" class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Joseph Alfredo Vasquez Dumarce was also arrested and charged for making bomb threats.<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Joseph Alfredo Vasquez Dumarce was also arrested and charged on Thursday, July 30, with interstate transmission of a threatening communication, according to<a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.wlox.com\/2026\/07\/31\/california-man-arrested-threats-against-jackson-county-judge-court-documents-say\/\"><em> WLOX<\/em><\/a><em> <\/em>and <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/people.com\/woman-charged-after-allegedly-making-bomb-threats-to-miss-government-offices-following-nolan-wells-death-investigation-12032318\"><em>People.<\/em><\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Authorities allege Dumarce, 27, sent multiple threatening Facebook Messenger messages to Ashlee Cole, a Jackson County chancery judge and the mother of one of the friends who was with Wells at the time of his disappearance.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThere will be a package coming to your guys office in the next few days,\u201d Dumarce <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.sacbee.com\/news\/local\/crime\/article316720356.html\">allegedly wrote <\/a>to Cole, according to <em>The Sacramento Bee<\/em>. \u201cIt\u2019s gonna blow you away when you see it. LoL.
