I think the president\u2019s going to put the economic squeeze on them. I think the misery index is up to 91 percent,\u201d Kilmeade said Tuesday on Fox News\u2019s \u201cThe Five,\u201d in comments <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mediaite.com\/media\/tv\/foxs-kilmeade-predicts-trump-ends-up-in-a-kinetic-war-with-iran-before-labor-day\/\">highlighted by Mediaite.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u201cSo, just my point is this: I think we end up in a kinetic war to finish this thing off before Labor Day because the Iranians need to understand who the superpower is,\u201d he added later.<\/p>\n<p>The Iran war has done damage to Trump\u2019s polling numbers and is a concern for Republicans seeking to hold on to the House and Senate majorities in the fall. The war has led to <a href=\"https:\/\/thehill.com\/business\/6025168-fuel-prices-highest-level-gasbuddy-analysis\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/thehill.com\/business\/6025168-fuel-prices-highest-level-gasbuddy-analysis\/\">high gas prices<\/a> and raised costs on other products.<\/p>\n<p>On Thursday afternoon, the average price of a gallon of regular gas in the U.S. was about $4.04, up from about $3.14 at this time last year, <a href=\"https:\/\/gasprices.aaa.com\/\">according to AAA<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Former Defense Secretary Mark Esper on Monday said the Trump administration seemed to be <a href=\"https:\/\/thehill.com\/policy\/defense\/6021909-mark-esper-donald-trump-iran-war-strategy\/\">on its \u201cback foot\u201d<\/a> when it came to strategy in the Iran war, in spite of intense damage caused to Iran by American military strikes.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTactically, we have imposed a lot of pain on them through our U.S. military strikes against their air force, their navy, their militias, their ballistic missile forces \u2014 done a lot of tactical damage,\u201d Esper said in an interview on NewsNation\u2019s \u201cThe Hill.\u201d<\/p>\n<aside class=\"ad-unit ad-unit--mr2_ab\">\n<\/aside>\n<p>Trump over the weekend said he is <a href=\"https:\/\/thehill.com\/policy\/defense\/6019744-donald-trump-iran-war-strategy\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/thehill.com\/policy\/defense\/6019744-donald-trump-iran-war-strategy\/\">\u201clow-keying it\u201d<\/a> on Iran. <\/p>\n<p>In a nod to Kilmeade\u2019s remarks about the economic pain that Iran is facing, Trump argued its economy is in bad shape.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are only semi-negotiating with them.
