Bush, discussed how her father\u2019s presidency helped her career during a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.today.com\/parents\/celebrity\/jenna-bush-hager-parents-fame-influenced-how-she-works-rcna592144\">Wednesday segment<\/a> of \u201cTODAY with Jenna &amp; Sheinelle.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI haven\u2019t asked my boss, and I\u2019d rather not \u2014 I got this interview\u2026 I was on the show because my dad was president,\u201d Bush Hager confessed to her co-host during the show.\u00a0<\/p>\n<aside class=\"ad-unit ad-unit--mr1_ab\">\n<\/aside>\n<p>\u201cI wrote a book in 2006. I was on the show. And then my mom and I wrote a book nine months later and she guest-hosted the 8. And so, I was on, and then they kept calling,\u201d she added.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Bush Hager joined the show after teaching for several years. She said she was asked to join the on-air team throughout her tenure in the classroom but repeatedly declined.<\/p>\n<p>However, one yes led to a more than decades long career with the company that has not only allowed her to co-host with Sheinelle Jones but also run the popular on-air book club, \u201cRead with Jenna,\u201d featuring regular author interviews and book recommendations.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI wouldn\u2019t have been given that opportunity,\u201d Bush Hager said, referring to her parents\u2019 stint of leadership in the White House that brought international recognition to her career.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think most people who have parents that [are famous], we have a privilege, that we know and you can own that,\u201d she added.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Bush Hager says the concept of nepotism is a topic she\u2019s discussing with her 13-year-old daughter, Mila.<\/p>\n<aside class=\"ad-unit ad-unit--mr2_ab\">\n<\/aside>\n<p>\u201cMila worked this summer. I always worked, and I hope I\u2019m not imparting any sort of transference on that, overdoing it,\u201d Bush Hager said of conversations with her daughter.<\/p>\n<p>Even after 17 years at TODAY, Bush Hager said, \u201cI feel lucky to be here, and I also feel like I needed to prove it.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Soon, she\u2019ll be <a href=\"https:\/\/thehill.com\/blogs\/in-the-know\/5689902-jenna-bush-hager-producer-drama-us-marshals\/\">tasked<\/a> with the role of executive producer for the \u201cLine of Fire\u201d drama set to air on Sept. 21.\u00a0<\/p>\n<aside class=\"ad-unit ad-unit--mr3_ab\">\n<\/aside>\n<p>Bush-Hager will be working alongside Josh Safran, who created the show \u201cQuantico,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/2026\/01\/protection-nbc-drama-pilot-josh-safran-jenna-bush-hager-1236682087\/\">as reported by Deadline<\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>Copyright 2026 Nexstar Media Inc.
