Sorkin\u2019s follow-up to the 2010 Oscar-winning <em>The Social Network,<\/em> in which Jesse Eisenberg played Zuckerberg, sees Strong take over the part. Strong recalled telling Sorkin, \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/movies\/movie-news\/jesse-eisenberg-on-not-returning-for-social-network-sequel-1236414368\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/movies\/movie-news\/jesse-eisenberg-on-not-returning-for-social-network-sequel-1236414368\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">If Jesse Eisenberg doesn\u2019t do it<\/a>, call me.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\t\u201cIt\u2019s the kind of role that fascinates me,\u201d Strong said of succeeding the part. \u201cIt\u2019s like Sebastian [Stan] playing Trump. You are wearing the cape. It\u2019s like Jeremy [Allen White] playing Bruce [Springsteen]. It\u2019s like, the perils of that could not be greater. To commit to it, and to be free within it, is a great challenge.\u201d  <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tThe <em>Succession<\/em> star added, \u201cI know that he is a reviled person and not a popular person in our culture, but I do not think you should have an actor playing him who wants to set out to condemn him.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tWhen Strong joined the project, he contacted Zuckerberg. \u201cI wrote to him \u2014 I\u2019m probably going to give Sony an aneurysm \u2014 I sent him an email. Just to say that I take this responsibility very seriously, and the veracity of it seriously, and I\u2019m approaching it with respect,\u201d he said. <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tAnd Zuckerberg wrote him back, though Strong wouldn\u2019t reveal what he said. He did, however, say he would be open to spending time if he were invited by the businessman. <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\t\u201cIt feels incredibly fraught to talk about the movie, to talk about Mark and being the person who is playing Mark and representing Mark in a sense to the world and to posterity. I feel an enormous sense of weight and responsibility,\u201d <em>The Apprentice<\/em> star added. \u201cMy job is to understand and defend his point of view and fight his fight.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tAfter <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/movies\/movie-news\/social-reckoning-trailer-jeremy-strong-zuckerberg-facebook-1236618104\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">the trailer for <em>The Social Reckoning<\/em><\/a> released in June, comments poured in about how strikingly close Strong\u2019s voice sounded to Zuckerberg\u2019s. His cast member Jeremy Allen White previously <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/movies\/movie-news\/jeremy-allen-white-on-jeremy-strong-voice-social-reckoning-1236623134\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/movies\/movie-news\/jeremy-allen-white-on-jeremy-strong-voice-social-reckoning-1236623134\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">told <em>The Hollywood Reporter<\/em><\/a> at <em>The Bear <\/em>season five premiere in New York that the trailer was also his first time hearing Strong as the Meta CEO.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\t\u201cJeremy and I spent zero time together filming \u2014 we were totally separate,\u201d White said. \u201cSo the first I heard was the trailer with you guys, but it\u2019s incredible. I thought it was great, but that\u2019s what I expect of Jeremy. He\u2019s so talented.\u201d <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tSpeaking with <em>GQ,<\/em> Bradley Cooper also praised Strong\u2019s commitment to playing Zuckerberg. \u201cI enjoy very much talking to him when he\u2019s in the throes of these other people. I love it. I\u2019ve talked to Mark Zuckerberg many times \u2014 I had a whole friendship with Mark Zuckerberg, and Mark Zuckerberg has no idea,\u201d he said. <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\t<a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/t\/sony-pictures\/\" id=\"auto-tag_sony-pictures_1\" data-tag=\"sony-pictures\">Sony Pictures<\/a>\u2018 <em>The Social Reckoning<\/em> is set 17 years after the\u00a0events\u00a0of <em>The Social Network.<\/em> White plays\u00a0<em>Wall Street Journal<\/em>\u00a0journalist Jeff Horwitz, who works with former Facebook employee Frances Haugen (Mikey Madison) to expose the social network\u2019s biggest secrets.
