She&#8217;s gone on to star in movies like <em>The Runaways<\/em>, <em>Snow White and the Huntsman<\/em>,<em> Charlie&#8217;s Angels<\/em> and <em>Spencer<\/em>. After taking an acting break in 2025 to direct, the actress is about to head back to the big screen.<\/p>\n<p>Ahead of its August 14 theatrical release, critics have started sharing their reviews of <em>The Wrong Girls<\/em>, Stewart&#8217;s new stoner flick, on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rottentomatoes.com\/m\/the_wrong_girls\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\" target=\"_blank\"><em>Rotten Tomatoes<\/em><\/a>, where it debuted with a score of 63%, indicating positive-to-mixed reviews. However, if this score drops below 60%, then it will be labeled as Rotten.<\/p>\n<p>Positive reviews for <em>The Wrong Girls<\/em> praised Stewart and Shawkat&#8217;s exceptional chemistry and called the movie silly, funny and entertaining. Some critics even went as far as to say <em>The Wrong Girls<\/em> will become a cult classic and compared the two lead characters, Frankie and Molly, to Cheech and Chong, who are famous for their stoner comedies.<\/p>\n<p>On the flip side, several critics panned <em>The Wrong Girls<\/em>, saying the storyline drags. One reviewer claimed that the jokes would have been a better fit if this film had been made 20 years ago. <a href=\"https:\/\/screenrant.com\/the-wrong-girls-movie-review\/\" target=\"_blank\"><em>ScreenRant<\/em>&#8216;s Liz Declan called <em>The Wrong Girls <\/em>unfunny<\/a> and said that the jokes fell flat.<\/p>\n<p>In the comedy, Stewart plays Frankie, one-half of a best friend duo with Alia Shawkat&#8217;s Molly. The two besties are barely scraping by financially, but they&#8217;re determined to keep smoking no matter what. They end up going on a whirlwind adventure after they take a mysterious drug and end up on the receiving end of a scientific experiment.<\/p>\n<p>Stewart and Shawkat&#8217;s co-stars are LaKeith Stanfield, Zack Fox, Tony Hale, Seth Rogen, Kumail Nanjiani, Geena Davis, Kate McKinnon and Cate Blanchett.<\/p>\n<p>Dylan Meyer, who created the production company Nevermind Pictures with Stewart (her wife) and Maggie McLean, directed <em>The Wrong Girls<\/em> and wrote the script. The three of them also served as executive producers on the comedy with Rogen, James Weaver, Alex McAtee, Evan Goldberg, Allison Rose Carter and Jon Read.<\/p>\n<p><em>The Wrong Girls<\/em> is only the second film that Stewart has produced, after 2025&#8217;s <em>The Chronology of Water<\/em>, which marked her feature-length directorial debut; she also wrote the script.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/screenrant.com\/the-chronology-of-water-movie-review\/\" target=\"_blank\"><em>The Chronology of Water<\/em> earned positive reviews<\/a> from critics and went on to win awards at multiple film festivals. On the small screen, Stewart co-created and executive produced the Hulu reality show <em>Living for the Dead<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>Now <strong>Kristen Stewart<\/strong>&#8216;s on the verge of releasing <em>The Wrong Girls<\/em>, which was filmed last year and will be released in theaters alongside <em>The End of Oak Street<\/em>, <em>Paw Patrol: The Dino Movie<\/em> and <em>Nimrods<\/em>, and one week before <em>Insidious: Out of the Further<\/em>. The film will also have to contend with the <a href=\"https:\/\/screenrant.com\/spiderman-brand-new-day-movie-box-office-success-reasons-explained\/\" target=\"_blank\">continued success of
