McWhirter called the case a prosecutorial embarrassment.<\/p>\n<\/figcaption><\/div>\n<\/figure>\n<div class=\"sc-gkCpWe evoggL\">\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.robertjmcwhirter.net\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>Robert J. \u201cBob\u201d McWhirter<\/strong><\/a>, attorney, Constitutional scholar, and author of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.com\/Framers-Failure-Amendment-Americas-Freedom\/dp\/1946074381\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><em>Fixing the Framers Failure<\/em><\/a>, said the case revealed a deeper problem.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt shows the department\u2019s incredible lack of independence, not just from political forces, but from the whims of this particular president,\u201d McWhirter said<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAll cabinet members and prosecutors take an oath to defend the Constitution and the rule of law. They do not take an oath to the president of the United States,\u201d he added. \u201cNow, you have the U.S. Attorney for the District of Columbia pointing fingers at the Secretary of the Interior to try to save her job.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He said the case would \u201cnever have been brought\u201d by the Justice Department under previous administrations.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPicking up a piece of gunk from the reflecting pool out of curiosity is not a crime,\u201d McWhirter explained. \u201cThe case was a <a href=\"https:\/\/okmagazine.com\/p\/delusional-jeanine-pirro-mocked-reflecting-pool-threat-pathetic-joke\/\">prosecutorial embarrassment<\/a> from the start.
