Shomari Figures, who won the seat in 2024 after the Supreme Court affirmed that the state&#8217;s GOP-drawn congressional map discriminated against Black voters.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>This year, however, the Supreme Court <span class=\"link\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/news\/supreme-court-lets-alabama-use-house-map-that-favors-gop-in-midterms\/\" data-invalid-url-rewritten-http=\"\">cleared the way<\/a><\/span> for Alabama to use a map more favorable to Republicans, which eliminates one of Alabama&#8217;s two majority-Black seats. Under the new boundaries, the 2nd District no longer includes Mobile, making it more difficult for Figures to win reelection.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The University of Virginia&#8217;s Center for Politics <a href=\"https:\/\/centerforpolitics.org\/crystalball\/2026-house\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">rates<\/a> the race as likely Republican.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Marques has the endorsements of President Trump, House GOP leaders and Republican Sen.
