Cody Bellinger is \u201cgetting close.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>The return of neither, though, appears imminent, and both are closer to returns than Aaron Judge.<\/p>\n<p>Given the club\u2019s sensitivity about Stanton, it is difficult to glean any information regarding when he might rejoin the team. <\/p>\n<p>But on the field before Tuesday\u2019s game, Stanton himself provided the update: For the first known time since suffering his second calf strain in June, the Yankees designated hitter ran the bases and looked like himself doing so.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt does feel like he\u2019s getting closer,\u201d Boone allowed, though he declined to reveal much else about Stanton.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Boone said he was not sure about Stanton\u2019s next step. He would not commit to Stanton needing or not needing a rehab assignment, saying, \u201cThere\u2019s at least a chance of that.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image aligncenter showed that he is making progress at a stage that is typically the final one before players either begin a rehab assignment or become activated. Stanton had been running the bases \u2014 and on the precipice of a return \u2014 in June when he suffered the additional calf strain.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Bellinger\u2019s pregame work came in the outfield, where he went through agility drills and shagged fly balls. He had gone down with a hamstring strain July 25, about two and a half weeks ago, for an injury that was given a four- to six-week timetable.\u00a0<\/p>\n<aside class=\"single__inline-module aligncenter wp-block-nypost-editor-primary-tag\">\n<\/aside>\n<p>\u201cHe\u2019s running really well,\u201d Boone said of Bellinger, <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2026\/07\/26\/sports\/cody-bellinger-lands-on-il-in-crushing-blow-to-yankees-lineup\/\">who has continued to hit<\/a> and late last week took on-field batting practice. \u201cHe\u2019s probably at I think over 90 percent of his normal top speed and feeling good doing that.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI know he still feels a little bit of tightness getting into certain positions, so it\u2019s just getting through that last wave, which hopefully he works through this week as that intensity ramps up of doing these things every day.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBut I
