Lockhart is a key character in <em>Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets<\/em>, the second book in J.K. Rowling\u2019s series and the source material for season two of the show.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tThe character is renowned in the wizarding world for his many heroic deeds, though he\u2019s later revealed as a fraud who took credit for the acts of others after erasing part of their memories. Kenneth Branagh previously played Lockhart in the 2002 <em>Chamber of Secrets<\/em> film.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tHBO gave an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/tv\/tv-news\/harry-potter-hbo-season-2-chamber-secrets-1236588073\/\">early season two renewal<\/a> to <em>Harry Potter<\/em> in May. The show\u2019s first season, officially titled <em>Harry Potter and the Philosopher\u2019s Stone<\/em>, is set to premiere Dec. 25. Along with McLaughlin, the show\u2019s core cast includes Arabella Stanton (Hermione Granger), Alastair Stout (Ron Weasley), John Lithgow (Albus Dumbledore), Janet McTeer (Minerva McGonagall), Paapa Essiedu\u00a0(Severus Snape), Nick Frost (Rubeus Hagrid), Rory Wilmot (Neville Longbottom) and Lox Pratt (Draco Malfoy).<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tFrancesca Gardiner is the showrunner for season one and executive produces with Mark Mylod (who also directs multiple episodes); Rowling, Neil Blair, and Ruth Kenley-Letts of Bront\u00eb Film and TV; and David Heyman of Heyday Films, who produced the eight <em>Harry Potter<\/em> movies. Jon Brown (<em>Succession<\/em>) is co-showrunner with Gardiner on season two.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tHoult broke out in 2002\u2019s <em>About a Boy<\/em> opposite Hugh Grant. His credits also include <em>Nosferatu, The Menu<\/em> and four <em>X-Men<\/em> movies, starting with 2011\u2019s <em>First Class<\/em>.
