For its latest preview, the singer and instrumentalist has shared a new single titled \u201cChow Mein\u201d as they gear up to hit the road with <a href=\"https:\/\/consequence.net\/artist\/modest-mouse\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Modest Mouse<\/a> next month. Stream it below.<\/p>\n<p>Produced with John Congleton, the new album finds Rose pushing their knack for identifying the surreal within ordinary American life into increasingly strange territory. Its memoiristic songwriting is paired with expansive guitar textures, touches of surf-rock, spaghetti Western flourishes, and a darker current of suburban unease.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><a href=\"https:\/\/vivid-seats.pxf.io\/c\/1882189\/952533\/12730?subId1=caroline-rose%2Anew-album-%20gentling-the-horse-at-the-walt-whitman-mall-button&amp;subId2=&amp;subId3=&amp;sharedid=&amp;u=%20https%3A%2F%2Fwww.vividseats.com%2Fmodest-mouse-tickets%2Fperformer%2F1078\" class=\"button button-ticket\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Find Modest Mouse Tickets<\/a><\/p>\n<p>That sensibility carries into the quirky \u201cChow Mein,\u201d which turns an awkward night out into a collision of menace and slapstick with lyrics like, \u201cA bouncer at the door\/ He asks for the password\/ I\u2019m already drunk cause I \/ Can\u2019t afford a cocktail\/ I pause before I throw up all over his tailored suit.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Related Video<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI relate to characters who are a little strange, who are outsiders, who seem to fuck up a lot or find themselves in awkward situations,\u201d Rose explained about their latest release. \u201cMost of these stories are just pulled directly from scenes in my own life, so the character is basically always some version of myself.
