The 64-year-old said, as quoted by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.usmagazine.com\/celebrity-news\/news\/rosie-odonnell-feared-mounjaro-weight-loss-was-cancer\/\" id=\"https:\/\/www.usmagazine.com\/celebrity-news\/news\/rosie-odonnell-feared-mounjaro-weight-loss-was-cancer\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Us Weekly<\/a>, \u201cThree years ago, the doctor told me \u2026 they said, \u2018You have diabetes, can you take a shot?\u2019 I said, \u2018I think so. I don\u2019t know. I\u2019ve never done a shot. Is it insulin?\u2019 \u2026 They said, \u2018No, it\u2019s this new drug and it really helps with your blood sugar.&#8217;\u201d<\/p>\n<p>O\u2019Donnell said she was never told that the medication could cause rapid weight loss. She said doctors were focused on getting her \u201cnumbers\u201d down. After starting Mounjaro, O\u2019Donnell went to Nobu but said she could not eat after her son Blake proposed to Teresa Garofalow Westervelt. The couple got married in 2024. O\u2019Donnell is also the mother of Parker, 31, Chelsea, 28, Vivienne, 23, and Clay, 13.<\/p>\n<p>The comedian said she was overwhelmed with emotion after missing her mother, Roseann, and wishing she could have witnessed Blake\u2019s engagement and new chapter in life. She initially believed that emotional experience explained her weight loss. However, two weeks later, \u201cI get on the scale. I call my doctor crying. I must have cancer. I\u2019ve lost 12 pounds and I haven\u2019t done anything. It\u2019s been three weeks since I started that medicine.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>O\u2019Donnell, who first opened up about taking Mounjaro in January 2023, explained that losing weight had always been difficult for her, even when she actively tried.
